How have the Mardi Gras concerts been?

We went to two of the concerts and thought they were great, especially Huey Lewis and the News. Wanted to see the Temptations and The Four Tops but couldn't get there. How was the crowd and was it a good concert. Going to brave the crowd and see Daughtry. Hope it is worth it.

Couldn't agree more about Huey Lewis .

Donna Summer the week before him though was not so good. She hardly sang at all, instead she kept yapping about how great it is to be her. If she had played the start of the night like she did the last 20 minutes then it would have been great.

We tried to get to the concert, but the crowds were too much for us and we left.

We went for Los Lonely Boys...it was cold raining and miserable.They were great.
Went for the Doobie Brothers, the crowds were fairly large...but not bad. Last night for Sean Paul, I've heard, was insane. He just brings out a larger crowd because he has current hits. Is it the same size crowd as say, Barbara (gak) Streisand would bring...yeah...is it the same type of crowd? Definately not. You have to look at the type of crowds you think will go. Daughtry may be a fairly decent size crowd, and it wont be too rowdy, I dont think. However, I dont think he'll work the crowd into a frenzy like Sean Paul did. I heard he started on stage from 3 to 5 during sound checks last night, and had people pretty much rushing the stage. Crowd control was also non existent as they let everyone in and had no cut off number. It took some people I know...no lie, 30 minutes to walk from Mummy to Twister. Not all nights will be like that.

went to universal 3/24 and was at the Sean Paul concert and the crowd was huge. My wife wanted to be at the concert whereas i am more of a Huey Lewis type of listener. I assume Sean Paul is all about the beat, cause i defy anyone that has not already memorized the words to tell me what he was saying or singing. I assume the female gender think he is hot cause he constantly was asking for the "lovely ladies" to scream. His concert was not the longest since both Donna Summer and Huey Lewis ran longer than Sean Paul.

I did not experience any more of a problem walking from the Monster cafe drink station over to Finnegan's than with any of the other concerts.

It took some people I know...no lie, 30 minutes to walk from Mummy to Twister. Not all nights will be like that.

Took me at least that long to get out of the park from Mummy--I ended up backtracking down the side "Shrek Street" (where the vampire scarezone was during HHN) and going out Rodeo Drive.

A number of us were trying to use Monsters Cafe as a "hallway" to get by. However, not only were the bone yard and street packed out, there were people standing on chairs inside the Cafe trying to watch the show.
Biggest crowd I've ever seen at Universal, including HHN and the Kid Rock concert.

Enjoyed Huey Lewis, but so far no one this year has rivaled Big & Rich or Heart last year.

We were there this past weekend, and Saturday the park was crazy enough without the Sean Paul concert, so we decided to skip it. Friends of ours went and said it was horrible...there were people throwing up all over the place from drinking too much, and it took 3 hours to get out of the parking garage because apparently there was a carjacking.

I was there for the Sean Paul concert. Not fun. I don't think there was a single spot from the front of the stage all the way back to Monster Cafe that wasn't occupied by a body. Hell, they were trying to watch the concert from INSIDE Monster Cafe! Luckily, I ducked out of there right before the concert ended, so I didn't have some of the problems getting out of the park that I've heard from others. I definitely felt the squash even during the parade, though.
