changed your life and the way you cook?
I have learned many things from TFN. From Rachel Ray I always salt my pasta water now. From AB I will never boil ribs again. I also won't buy a kitchen tool unless it's a multi tasker.

Well......I learned from Paula that butter and mayo are food groups that should be consumed daily!!!

I LOVE watching her show.....but purely for the entertainment aspect, not the cooking aspect!

I learned HOW to cook from them! I learned that simplicity is a great thing in the kitchen. Things really do taste best with just a little salt and EVOO (not a big pepper fan). I always tried to be to fancy, and everything turned out... not tasting like it should. I don't watch FN much anymore, but have SO MANY great recipies from them, and learned so many techniques. I wouldn't be half the cook I am today without FN... just don't tell my mom I said that.....

I have learned how to cook better- and I won't go anywhere and smile at a crappy meal ever agin. :rotfl:

I get a good laugh during Good Eats but learn at the same time (and I love Iron Chef America!).

One complaint I have about FN is all the stuipd Challenge shows, and now the reality shows. I want to watch FN to see people cook, and get recipies from them. Yeah, it was fun at first to see people make the challenge cakes (especially when they were in Disney), but after a while, its just boring. Especially with its the Challenge: Chicken. Its chicken - who cares about that!!! Plus, if you do see something you would want to make, they don't give recipies on those shows. Waist of time IMO

I'm a cake decorator so I LOVE the cake challenge shows. Could do without the other challenges though and I can't STAND Unwrapped. I'm sick of seeing how crappy junk foods are made!

I have to agree with you on Unwrapped. Marc Summers irritates the heck out of me.

I like the next Food Network Star but the Next Iron Chef is getting to me. I still watch it, though.

I buy better quality ingredients, and I find a way to get basil and parsley into almost every dinner. I love Barefoot Contessa and the fact that she uses real butter, cream, mayo, etc. I bought her cookbook and love the recipes in it. Also - I've become an expert at chopping veggies quickly with the biggest, sharpest knife in my kitchen.

Awww... I love Marc Summers, Unwrapped, and the challenges. Can't stand Ina Garten though.

I always use a garbage bowl now. And I've learned that "off the hook" has more than one meaning :goodvibes

I ADORE Ina!! She's one of the few that I trust on that channel to actually know what she's talking about!

I cannot stand Ina. And as far as the GB goes, I just move the garbage can next to me and There it is. "walla :rolleyes1"

I have a tiny kitchen and there really isn't room for my garbage can :)

I love Paula as well. I also enjoy Alton Brown

I've never really gotten the whole GB thing either. It's one more dish I'll have to wash. I'd rather just walk a couple feet to the trash can.

Alton Brown is entertaining, like him. I like to watch Ina but wish her recipes were a bit healthier. I also like Unwrapped and Marc-maybe because I am reminded of Double Dare and my childhood!

And I'm a garbage bowl convert too. Anything to make cleaning up a tiny kitchen easier!

Like most, I was a self-taught cook even before I started getting the Food Network. I have enjoyed it immensely, it has improved my background knowledge. I love Ina and I love Mission Impossible, among others.

Do you mean Dinner Impossible? That show makes me nervous. I LOVE to cook, but I could never do it in a professional kitchen. I'd go nuts, I think.
