How has Nick Hotel been lately? Any better

I would like to find out more about transportation to the Universal parks and Sea World as well. I just read a review and someone mentioned you need to get a pass for the shuttle at guest services or the gift shop kiosk but the shuttle leaves at 8am for Universal and the gift shop and guest services also don't open until that time. Sounds confusing but am hoping it is not b/c this is our only means of transportation to the parks. Anyone who has been there recently- do you have any idea about this and also is this the only time the shuttle leaves each morning etc. Any info greatly appreciated! Thanks

Try to stay on the Lagoon side, it has the big water tower you see in all the ads. We always stayed in bldg 13 or 14 on one of the top 2 floors facing the Marriott across the stree and overlooking DTD. That way we could see the fireworks from Disney without even being there. You could also pay more for a pool view room but I didn't think it was worth the extra $20 a night to see something we spent a great deal of time at. We liked seeing the fireworks better at the end of the day.

Thanks so much for the tip!!!!:thumbsup2

I just happened upon this thread and read it to my DS16 and DD13. They both GROANED.

we stayed at the Nick hotel last summer in July. What a nightmare!

NOTHING was clean. I don't even know where to start. We had driven 14 hours and that is the ONLY reason we stayed, If we hadn't been so tired and it hadn't been so late we would have walked out.

We stayed in the Spongebob Suite. Facing the Pool Area. The entire room smelled like stale milk. The kids room with the bunk beds - more like crib size. DD 13 couldn't straighten her legs out in the bed. DS 16 went out to the car and got our travel blankets so he and his sisters wouldn't have to touch the bedding. We pulled the "comforters" off the beds and they slept on top of the blankets from the car. Oh gosh I'm reliving how horrible it was just typing this. No one took their shoes off - the carpet was disgusting. Old, worn and I'm sure unclean. Beds were hard as a rock. No one slept that night.

At first the plastic bracelets didn't bother us. But frankly, I don'tk now how much of a security thing it is. Anybody can book a room and get a bracelet.
No one every checked our bracelets. DD9 wanted hers OFF 10 minutes later and I cut hers off. She wasn't leaving my sight anyway.

The food court - disgustingly unsanity, crowded, overpriced. We could not WAIT to leave the next morning.

If you have time CHANGE TO ANOTHER HOTEL!

We will NEVER EVER Stay there again and I've told everyone I know to avoid it like the plague. HORRIBLE HOTEL!

I hate so much to here this. It makes me upset and worry that you had such a bad time. And then others have a good?
Thanks what is so odd about this hotel? It has such mixed reviews?
I think we need to go for at least 2 nights of are 5 ( the other will be at AKL, we have stayed there before and it is good) since it is my sons big B-day request. :)
I am so sorry that this happened to you. No one wants to spend money on a hotel that is made for kids and to have such a bad time.
:sad2:

We had a choice of a Lagoon pool view or outside. Frankly, I chose the pool view but we're early going-to-bed people. It was a bit noisy until after the movie about 10.

The bunk beds appeared to me to be regular twin bed sizes not toddler size. We left toddler size beds at the Country Inn & suites (which was in their kid suite). But that's a whole 'nuther story.

Thanks!!! for helping.:goodvibes

Does ANYONE know anything about the hotel transportation? Please help!!!!

I only know that Nick Hotel doesn't offer it. They do offer bus rides to the parks near by. You could use Mears or another company like that to go or take a taxi or rent a car.
Hope this helps.:)

thats odd, I added a replay and it doesn't show so I am bumping up to see if that works?

Oops, sorry, in my desperation I forgot to add that my pleas were for more detailed information on transportation to Universal/ IOA/ Seaworld from the Nick Hotel rather than from MCO to the hotel ( I have that part covered!)

The Marriot is taking advantage of people staying in a hotel and try and lure you into buying one of their condos. They call it a nice resort, but it's a glorified hotel.

.

Have you ever stayed at a Marriott timeshare? I have and it's not a "glorified hotel" I stay at very nice hotels. It's a completely different expereince. (No, I don't own one)

I have taken the Marriott timeshare tour years ago in HH and I found it ver "low pressure"

Now personally I would never stay at Nick. For the prices they want I have a certain standard and they fail to meet it. (NOTE: That I also have given up Disney "Deluxe" hotels. The only industry standard that gives them a "Deluxe" rating is the "It's Disney" one. Compared to true deluxe resorts they are sadly lacking!)

We'll be there the night of Jan 4th, checking out on Jan 5th to head over to AKL ourselves.

I can try to report back either the night of the 4th (it'll be after a 20 hour drive, so I'm not sure that will happen) or the night of the 5th after we check in to our villa at AKL.

:)

Hope to still here from you.:)

We found it to be very nice...GREAT for the kids. It was clean (NO mold, no dust bunnies, NOTHING like that). Sheets and blankets smelled clean, no stains, rugs were clean...no "black feet" others have reported. All in all, we were happy.

The food is good, not great, but it suffices to keep everyone happy. The pools are the highlight, but we only got about an hour of pool time (it was mid 60's our first day...then 75-ish the 2nd). Kids enjoyed the character breakfast, characters in "the mall" and the "Nick Live" show. In all. everyone was pretty happy. We'd stay there again.

Top floor, pool view room in building 3. Spongebob 2 br suite (with twin beds).

thanks for your up to the minute report pilferk! Did you happen to notice what the transporation schedule was for US/ IOA/ and Seaworld? Like what time they leave the resort in the am and how to go about getting a shuttle pass? Any input greatly appreciated. 24 days and counting until our trip!

I didn't notice....we were only there for a "sleep stop" before checking in at AKV the next day (after a 22 hour car ride).

I'll look around to see if we kep the "script" which explained all the amenities, times, etc. I'm not sure we did, but I'll take a gander over the next day or so.
