DD10 will start tutoring today. Verbally and vocabulary wise, she reads at an eighth grade level. Comprehension wise, she's at a fourth grade level. (she's in fifth grade). It takes hours of extra effort for her to achieve good grades in subjects that involve reading/comprehending.
After ruling out learning disorders, we have decided on getting a tutor. She will tutor her 2x/wk in reading and SS/Science.
For those who have had tutors, have you seen a significant difference? Does it last for most of the rest of their education?

). I tried to explain that it wasn't. Not all teachers teach the same way and not all students learn the same way. She just needed the concepts explained and little different than her teachers 'style'.
