How hard to get THV?

We are still in the "purchasing soon, still researching" phase, but one of the considerations I have is difficulty getting a THV. My stepdaughter wants to celebrate her 13th birthday with a friend at WDW and loves the THV and she wants us to stay at one when we go. Her birthday is in October, but we can work around the dates if there are harder times to book. Thanks for any advice!

If you mean October 2011, then you'd be on the waitlist. The probability of getting a THV would be greatest 11 months prior to the trip. They are very popular.

Never hurts to call and see. You may end up on a waitlist for awhile. I read on another board that someone just got a THV at 7 months - so anything is possible.

There are only about 30 THV available to DVC members. The other thirty or so are only available for cash reservation through Disney Reservation Center. So you really need to book these at 11 months out. And that means SSR points.
