I put a post in the DL forums & they suggested i put it in the dvc one. Weve only taken 1 dvc trip so far & next yr we'll b taking our 1sr DL Vacation. (We're seasoned wdw'rs). Ill need to book next month for the dates & then april switch for 7 mos to change but just wondering how difficult it is to switch at 7 mos to vgc for the last week in nov/1st week in dec. Tia!

Anytime of year is hard to get at VGC. It is the smallest resort and the only one at DL so there is lots of competition. Make sure you have a range of dates and are willing to try for various villas sizes to plan a vacation at VGC.

that's the problem, we aren't really flexible w/dates cause we're going for my sons golden birthday and we only have enough points for a studio really. We have the next couple trips planned out & there's a disney wedding in the family that we'll need to attend that we need to account for which is why we're changing this around. So it's a little challenging at the moment. I'm really hoping this will all workout. We bought into the dvc to be able to enjoy all the resorts. if it's just too saturated to do that at any point, idk that it was a good decision. But we'll see how it goes!

Unfortunately, a VGC Studio is one of the most difficult room to book.

There simply are too few DVC rooms at VGC.

Where would you be booking? Where are you switching from?

In case you're thinking of booking at one of the other Disneyland onsite hotels, you can book, but you wouldn't be able to switch that booking for a DVC booking at the Grand. And you wouldn't be able to use those points anymore for a normal DVC booking. So if you go for DLH or PPH, you might as well just stay with it.

What's a golden birthday?

If your ONLY plan is to go to Disneyland for this birthday, I would make a reservation somewhere for cash there that can be cancelled. When it's time to try for a 7 month reservation, try. If you get it, cancel the cash reservation. If you don't, you still have a place to stay. If that's your plan, there are plenty of good places around Disneyland!
