Specifically, I'm wondering about the Disney characters. How do you get eveything in the right color? I'm sure this sounds like a dumb question....but I'm wondering how hard it is to make these wonderful (but layered) designs?

Nope, haven't bought a cricut yet and I'm on the fence. Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Karen

on the cricut boards there is a yahoo group that has spreadsheets for the colors. I'll have to find the link. Or someone else here may have it.

The characters are hard but not undoable. The larger the size the easier they are. I think the eyes are the toughest part of the whole thing.

Are you looking at the little bug or the expression?

I'm looking at the Expression. To me it seems easier not to have to cut my paper first, but I have no clue!

Thanks,

Karen

Definitely go for the Expression! I am not at all technically inclined and I am able to use my Cricut, no problem. The Cricut message boards have a wealth of truly helpful information, too.

I have both but if I had to do it over again I would go with the expression. That way you can cut the characters out larger and they will be easier to put together. Plus you have all the options of the small one plus the bonus options of the big machine. And all the cartridges are interchangeable so you can use them on both machines.

Thanks for the help everyone. That's why I love the disboards!

I have both machines and I would say get the Expressions, I love it so much. I make the Disney characters at least 5 inches. The bigger you make them easier they are to handle, especially things like the eyes and tonue etc.
The Cricut is the best thing to happen to scrapbooking and card making. You will not regret buying one.

Would someone mind sharing how much each of these cost? I've only seen the Cricut on the TV informertials; I almost bought one until I saw the fine print that said additional charges after the trial period. So...
Can someone tell me about the "expressions"
And can you tell me how much they both cost?

Thanks!

DW recorded the infomercial a few weeks ago. This is for the baby cricut. $50 up front - 30 day - trial - 4 more payments of $50. Total coast $250 and I think shipping is extra. There are a few extras, tool kit, etc.

I'm getting her the AC Moore Expression (big bug) bundle first thing tomorrow. It goes on sale 40% off in store tomorrow 3/6. Cost is $359. This is the bundle with 4 carts. This one went one sale last month in-store for the Superbowl. $319. All the employees I've asked have no idea when and if this price will show up again.

The Expression comes in different bundles. Some have 4 carts and some have 2. They range in price from about $300 to $400, depending on where you get it. There are online vendors like www.creativexpress.com, selling the Expression for $330 with 2 cartridges and free shipping (3/5/08). www.acmoore.com is selling the bundle with 4 carts and the markers for $368.99 while supplies last. www.walmart.com sells the original Cricut for $184 with one cart.

STAY AWAY FROM THE INFOMERCIAL!!!!!!

The machines can be bought online, on ebay, at Michaels, ACMoore and some Walmarts.

The expression is basically the same machine but bigger. It does have a extras features and can cut up to 12x24, the little bug cuts up to 5 1/2 or 6 inches.

check out cricut.com they have lots of info there and you can look at the user guides for both machines under each machine in the products section.

We don't have ACMoore's in my area but thanks for the link. I'm guessing that the $368 price is a good deal?

I'm not into scrapbooking or card making but the Cricut appeals to me just the same. What other jobs do ya'll do with it?

Thanks!
Cheryl

I use it to do school projects for the kids and the PTO bulletin board at school. Provo Craft also carries the vinyl letters so when I paint my kitchen I will be cutting out sayings for my wall.

I have used it to make a paper flower bouquet for DD's teachers birthday. It turned out pretty cute. DD made a name plaque for her door with Mickey on it, of course. It has so many uses!
