How hard is it to get into Jedi Training?

The signups during SWWs are in front of the Indiana Jones show (Epic Theatre is maybe its official name?). That's on SWW days only. All other days the signups are in the Sound Studio/former Sounds Dangerous Building, which is across from Indiana Jones and in front of Star Tours. If you get to Star Tours you've gone too far.

Lovely thank you

Does anybody have an opinion of whether we should try JTA during EMH (we are resort guests) or go with an 8:05 ADR on a non-EMH day? And/or whether either strategy will work just fine?

(Our plan is to spend the remaining day at HS, if that matters.)

We are 2 adults, 2 kids, but only one wants to do JTA (she's 5.5). The second child is not yet 4, so no JTA for her. Our current plan is to go to H&V at 8:05, for me and for the younger daughter to stay there while my husband and my older daughter eat fast and go sign up for JTA. This would be Thursday, the 22nd of May, so there are 2 early breakfasts in the park at that time. (Also, if we do this, any thoughts on when they should leave H&V? Or will they only be able to leave once the park opens?)

Our alternative (less convenient) is to try EMH on Wednesday, the 21st. The disadvantage of Wed is that we have a late evening in MK on Tuesday and planned Wed as a day off/relaxed. We are also checking out of Wilderness Lodge on Thursday morning (have a split stay with Pop Century), so we would rather do HS on Thursday. The concern is that if Thursday morning JTA sign-up doesn't work, then we can't really repeat it (we plan to go back to HS on Sunday, but only for half-day, and wouldn't want want to stress about JTA on a busy Star Wars weekend Sunday). Thank you!

I wouldn't try to do JTA sign up on an EMH morning because, unless it has changed, they don't open sign-ups until closer to 8:45 anyway, which means it is a waste of EMH and you will just be hanging around for JTA, unable to do other attractions.

I have heard that it is good to do 8:05am at H&V, that the characters come around quickly. Just request to pay your check as soon as you sit down so you won't be stuck waiting. I think I have heard it is good to get up and go by around 8:40am.

Alternatively, get there for rope-drop on a regular opening morning and try to be near the turnstiles.

Just to clarify, we were able to sign up this past Saturday right at 8:00 during an AM EMH day. We were able to sign up immediately, no waiting.

sbrost13, that is interesting! I wonder whether that is a new policy or whether it is hit or miss. I have heard others say it doesn't open until later on EMH mornings. I hope others will chime in!

A source that I trust has reported in recent months that signups are indeed taken as soon as EMH starts. This is a relatively new development.

This is the whole reason for our trip. My son lasts year cried and I cried seeing how upset he was that not only could he not do training (he was 3) but he was not tall enough for the ride either. Ever since he talks about when he is an adult and too big to be my baby anymore that the first thing he wants to do is go to Disney and do Star Wars. We are surprising him next week. I can't wait to see him. He already thinks the force is with him and I have not even let him see the movie (too violent for a toddler in our home) but he knows all of the characters already and talks about them all the time like they are his best friends. So we will be running with him and I guess everyone else that day. I hope I don't have to cry watching humble heart broken again. It was so sad.

We have used the 8:00/8:05 H&V breakfast strategy for three years now. It works well. But you really don't have to rush through breakfast. H&V is never that busy, it's a buffet so there's no waiting for food, and the characters don't leave you waiting long. You won't be allowed to leave the area right outside the restaurant until they start letting people through the turnstiles (they keep a CM stationed there to keep guests in the area), and with the park not typically opening until 8:45, you'll have 40 minutes to eat breakfast. This has always been more than enough time for us to eat and meet all the characters.

What are the times for jta? Are the times the same all year?

The first session is at 9:20 and then held every 50 minutes until 1:00 or so, and then the shows are every 30 minutes until 4:00ish. Then it goes back to every 50 minutes. During SWW, sessions will be every 30 minutes with two groups for each session.

Great! Thank you! We will stick with the H&V ADR then. My younger daughter is actually very interested in the characters, so she and I can always stay if we haven't seen all of them. Thank you for the info on the CM who is stationed there too.

Thank you. I am in the process of making several different touring plans depending on which time slot we get.

Just an FYI, we were the 3rd group to register for Jedi Training and were able to then go directly to Toy Story and rode that with only a 15 minute wait. It was awesome!

We are planning on doing this when we go in august for the first time. Just wondering if this was during EMH? And how much earlier before rope drop did you arrive? TIA

Thank you. I am in the process of making several different touring plans depending on which time slot we get.

FYI- you don't have to just take the first available. Now with FP+ they let you choose whichever show fits into your existing plans. We took the second slot they offered because the earliest was during our TSMM FP slot.

We have a bad breakfast reservation time I think. 9:20am at Sci-Fi for the Star Wars breakfast. Do you think we will make it to sign up for JTA before the breakfast? Worried it is not enough time where the park opens at 9am.

It's best to schedule your Fp+ first and set aside a minimum of an hour for JTA. Your child needs to arrive 30 minutes before the scheduled session. The JTA session will last 20 minutes. If your child does not arrive on time for his session, his slot will be given to a child on the waiting list.

To have the best selection of sessions, arrive at least 45 minutes before the scheduled park opening and head straight to JTA sign-ups when the gate opens.

Dismom27, I think they usually open the gates around 8:45am, so I am thinking you will be okay *if* you arrive by around 8:10am and are close to the turnstiles for rope drop. Also, I have read that your reservation may be honored even if you are up to 15 minutes late, but hopefully it won't come to that if you get to rope drop early. This is just based on what I have read, not personal experience. Good luck!

We got there at 7:00AM on an AM EMH day. We were literally one the first people there. It wasn't until around 7:15-7:20 that more groups of people started to arrive, so I think you'd be fine to get there around then. Not sure if this is true, but it seemed like scanning magic bands to get into the park went faster. Also, there are lots of scanners available so even if you're the 50th person there, you will still be towards the front of the lines. They only let us in 5 minutes early at 7:55. Not sure if that would be different on a non-EMH day.

It's best to send one adult with the kid(s) who wants to do Jedi to the sign-ups and the rest of the party to Sci-Fi to check-in. They will seat your party when everyone is there and this way, they keep the table for you even if the complete party is a little late.

Myself and my 4yr old son, got to HS 30mins before rope drop, went straight to registration(took about 10-15mins) and then straight to Toy Story for our 1st Fastpass. From here on out any time we got back and he wants to do it, we will be doing it this way.Only hassle was the parents forcing their kids to do it, and those screaming at their parents..i find it horrible to force your kid to do anything at Disney.
