We own 200 pts. at BCV- absolutely LOVE the place! As a matter of fact, the only thing we can find wrong with it is the fact that they have no GV's there. Our children are all adults- and when they start to have their own families we will quickly outgrow the 2 BR's we fit into so well now! That means we'll need to use a GV. With the announcement of AKV, my DH and I are considering adding on because of the GV's they will have there, however, if obtaining a GV at the 7 month window is possible, then I'd just assume add onto our BCV's points and try to book a GV at 7 months out.

So- to make a good decision, we need your thoughts and experiences. Can you help us out??

What would you do??

THANKS!

Since there has been no announcement of how many GVs at AKV or how many points they would take, there is no real way to predict how popular they might be at the 7 month mark. At OKW there are 27 GVs and the points are fairly low, and they are VERY difficult to get at the 7 month mark. With your adult children, when they do have families, perhaps they would like to have their own unit instead of all being in the same one. You might do a 2 bedroom as a home base, and rent either studios or 1 bedrooms(or more) for the other families.

IMHO, BCV at the 11 month window is very popular. I think you would easily be able to trade with another member.

Interesting comment about the trading with BCV points. We also only own at BCV, and I was wondering if I would have to trade my way into AKV. I think the smaller resorts will be tougher to trade into, for obvious reasons.

I was glad to see some of the plans for SS, and the childrens pool play area. That sounded like a super way to make SS more attractive to young families. My kids are grown now, but they would have loved that type of thing. Love the idea of making all the resorts as attractive as possible, so all of us have the option to visit various DVC properties with ease.

Just to clarify my post, I thought the OP wanted any GV, I think she may have a harder time trading to AKL but not BWV, SSR, or OKW

You're right! I did mean ANY GV at ANY resort and ANY TIME of the year. The problem (not really a problem... lol!!!) is I own BCV's- they don't have any GV's- so I'm in a situation where I'd have to wait until the 7 month window and cross my fingers on getting into a GV.

Thus- the dilemma- whether we should add on at AKV or just add on points to our already exisiting BCV's contract. (Which is what I prefer to do if GV's are easily available at the 7 month window.)

InstImpres Could you explain a little more what you mean when you say we could "trade into" AKV, BWV's etc.?? I'm confused!?!? THANKS!

Many members (like myself) own at a GV location but would love to spend time in a 2 bedroom, during a peak season at BCV. You could post on the rent/trade board to basically swap reservations, you would get the GV at someones home and they would get a room at BCV. You might also need to transfer some of your points to them to even the deal out.

We own at BWV and reserved our GV for family reunion this month at 11 months out, day by day. I think counting on being able to get a GV at 7 months would be risky - but - if you'd be happy with two 2 BR units (less pts than the 3 BR grand villas anyway) - it wouldn't matter.
