How hard is it to add 1 person to an ADR?

Our trip is 6 weeks away and my brother just decided he might be joining us. I was able to rebook most of our ADR's but there were a few that did not have availability with adding him in when I tried to make a new ADR. Is it worth calling WDW to see if he could be added to our existing ADR's or asking to have him added once we actually get there? TIA!

You can't have him added before you get there unless you rebook so you might as well try when you get there. Are you going from an even to an odd party number and are the restaurants very popular? You may want to have backup if so.

If you're going from an even number to an odd number of people you will need a larger table so I would try to re-book the ADRs. Keep checking online because people change their plans all of the time. It looks like you're going at the end of August and that's during Free Dining so that will impact the restaurants, especially the most popular places.

It's not as hard to go from an odd number to an even because you'll probably still be at the same size table (e.g. if you were a party of 5 and you're going to 6 you were probably at a table for 6 already.)

We are going from 6 people to 7 people - my mom and other brother are coming, too. It is SciFi Dine-In Theater that I am trying to get the ADR for 7 - nothing is available. I was able to get an ADR for 7 at the 50's Prime Time Diner but my 12 year-old had her heart set on SciFi, we ate there last year and she loved it. My brother is supposed to confirm today whether or not he is coming on the trip. As of right now, I have double booked ADR's for parties of 6 and parties of 7. (No worries, my double booking will only be for 24 hours until I hear from him and then I will immediately cancel what we don't need. :thumbsup2 ) Thanks for the info!

We went from 6 to 7 two years ago, when my brother decided to join us for a few days. First, I would try to get new ADRs like you have been doing. In our case, we were unable to get any for the days he was going to be with us. So he would go to each restaurant with us knowing he may be turned away, but never was. He ended up eating with us at: Coral Reef, Donald's Safari Breakfast, Sci Fi Dine-In and Liberty Tree Tavern.

I might suggest also looking for ADRs of 1 for the restaurants you can't get at this point. Perhaps they'd be more willing to join your ADRs together at the restaurant, if possible. And that way, at least he would have actual ADRs, if they won't let him be added to your group.

Do you have small enough children that 3 can fit in one seat of the Sci Fi cars? Since you booked for a party of 6, they will have assigned an entire car to your party. I don't think it's going to be a problem for your brother to be seated with you if you can squeeze 3 into one seat; I'd leave this reservation as is and tell them at the podium that you can still fit into one car.

....my sister decided to join us after I had already booked most of our ADR's. We were travelling December 13th to December 22nd, so I knew it would be crowded.

Every single restaurant added my sister (thereby making it a table for three instead of two) without blinking. The only restaurant that even mentioned it was Cinderella's Royal Table. The hostess wasn't sure what to do, so she called over a manager.

He immediately said, "Of course, we can seat you all." So it was a non-issue for us. We were fully prepared for my sister to find a quickservice place, if she could not be seated with us. But it never was a problem.

My MIL & nephew just decided to join us on our Thanksgiving trip!!!! ;) I was able to add them to everything except for LeCellier. Can you make him ressies for a party of 1 & everyone arrive early enough for them to "shuffle" you around?

This is what we did on one of our ressies....we had ADR's for 8:05am at Crystal Palace & had to get them in for 8:25am. I hope the CMs will let them into the park as early as they let us in. We mainly just want empty pics in front of the castle!
