How hard/impossible will it be to change party size

I am booking reservations for a trip in May. Right now it is just dd and I so we are a party of 2 (obviously!).
Well dh may decide to come along...it will just depend on finances and how he feels (he is about to start 4 weeks of radiation treatment).
So if he can come, what is the likelihood that I will be able to change our ressies to a party of 3? Should I count on him not being able to join us - and canceling ressies?

What you should do is make your ADRs for a party of 3. If you show up with 1 less person, you will still have no problem being seated. You may struggle if you make your ADRs for 2 and then need to add a person to them.

It's always easier to show up with less people, than try to add another person later. Definitely make your reservations for 3 and hopefully your husband will be be able to come with you.

That would be a good idea if I didn't already have them all made, lol. Plus I learned a long time ago that getting a ressie for 3 is darn near impossible. I checked for some of the ones I have, and there are no tables for 3 available, but there are tables for 4. I sure don't want to book a bunch of 4 tops if it does end up being just myself and dd.
I hate how they make it so hard for families of 3.
