How hard do you think it would be...

to get into Mama Melrose or Sci-Fi dine in theater mid-afternoon without a reservation at the end of July?
I’m thinking about 3pm or so.
Thanks!

Because I’m not sure which we will want, or if we will even stay in the park or go back to resort.
Isn’t there a fee if you don’t cancel before the day of?

We (party of 2 adults) were at Sci Fi for an 11 am lunch res in the first week of May, and while checking in at the host station, heard a hostess firmly but gently try to explain to a lady that they were fully booked and couldn't take walk-ups for lunch that day. :confused3 But I've also heard the umbrella tables at the back are held just for walk-ups.

That said, I imagine towards the end of lunch service, they will have had some no-shows, and since the restaurant will probably be emptying out around then... can't hurt to ask.

Can't speak for Mama Melrose's availability.

I guess your best bet would be to check the app for reservations on the day of, once you decide whichever you're feeling. I've done that many times, getting lunch reservations like an hour in advance.

Thanks- so there is hope. I was thinking that for an odd hour like 3 it just may be possible. Either would be a good place to rest if we don’t decide to go back to Pop.
And honestly I think my son would prefer Sci-fi, but I keep remembering The saltimbocca at Mama’s and .....

I would just decide and make an ADR. The chances of a walkup are nil and none. I had some friends do the walkup thing at Skippers a few weeks ago and they saw a lot of empty tables and were still told no. In their case they remembered my advice and got online in front of the hostess and were able to get an ADR right then and there.

We were at SCI FI on May 17 and they were taking walk ups, our reservation was for 1:05 PM and I heard a walk up couple being told 20 minutes, but to not expect to be seated in a car.

Never tried for a ressie or walkup at Mama Melrose but have tried walking up twice at Sci Fi without success. Once in late December and the other time in early July. During July they weren't accepting any walk ups and during December it was a 1 hour wait.

I would think you should be able to do walk up at 3 pm as its far enough from lunch and supper .
I would suggest making an ADR for the one you want to go to, just in case things are busy that day.
We usually eat closer to noon and have been able to get an ADR at both. We have also seen many turned away from both without an ADR.

It can’t hurt to try, and if you can’t get in, get the Mediterranean salad with chicken at ABC Commissary. It was excellent—pita bread, fresh hummus, feta cheese, grilled chicken. Really a very decent meal. :)

I agree. I generally make a decision and run with it. I have watched a lot of people get turned away from restaurnats and don't want to be one of them.

I know, I’m torn. I want to see SW fireworks, but just don’t think rd to fireworks would work. Too long a day with not enough to do.
