How grody do your clothes get?

:goodvibes I went down last May for 8 days. Jeans for on the plane down and back. Also had a pair of dress slacks for my Dinner at Artist Point. 4 pair of shorts and a total of 12 short sleave shirts; ranging from dressy, to polo ,and pocket-T's. Also had extra undershorts and socks ,so I could change when I felt the need. It all fit in my rolling duffle with plenty of room left over for lots of Disney stuff for family!:yay:
Now this year my trip is going to be a little longer 11 days/ 10 nights, so this time I may do laundry. I'm also thinking of prepacking. If what I would take will all fit and be under the weight limit, I'll just do one bag and skip laundry!:laundy:

I guess it depends on the weather! And my kids (okay I am blaming THEM for spillages, hey why not?!) Depending on the heat, I often bring sundresses (the cotton, non-wrinkle kind) and that is ONE item of clothing! Of course, I have never been able to wear my clothes more than once a day and even have to bring a change of clothes! Siiiiigh. Yes, clutz!:goodvibes

We have lots of experience at WDW the first week of February. Temps have ranged from 40s to 80s during that time, and in cooler weather, we can re-wear shorts, capris, jeans and sweatshirts. I packed a different shirt for our boys for each day, and extras for our youngest.

I would normally say you can't re-wear the shirts, but on our last trip our older boys got ToT shirts at the beginning of the trip and begged to wear them every single day! Would not be my first choice, but they came out of it just fine! They wanted to wear them the day after we returned home, but that's where I drew the line - they had to be washed!

We will be leaving in a week and a half and I can tell you that I plan on re-wearing clothes. It doesn't look like it is going to be that hot. We went last january when it was freezing and re-wearing was never an issue. The less I have to pack the better!

I am packing full outfits for the 2 kids for each day. Probably an extra or 2 of a lighter weight (waiting to see what the weather says). For myself and DH, we will probably take 4 pants or jeans (6 days away from home) and a couple shorts or capris. I plan to wear jeans twice if needed, especially for evenings. We do that here all winter (in the deep south) with no trouble. I don't know if that will hold true if we have days in the 80s. Then they may not come out of the suitcase.

We've found that sleeping in one morning mid-trip, then hanging out by the pool while I wash ALL the laundry works really well for us. We get a chance to recharge our batteries by not racing out the door for rope drop and the girls love having pool to themselves in the morning. We usually have showered and are ready to head to a park by lunchtime. Just a nice break in the middle of a crazy busy week.

I can usually wear shorts/jeans twice before they need to be washed. I just air them out between wearings if possible.

Tops are a different matter. I know I'd need to do laundry for them now. I used to bring enough for the whole trip without doing laundry but DH is tired of me having the extra luggage so I'm now doing my best to pack light and do laundry once during the trip.

Unfortunately, I have only one pair of jeans that fit me well sad1: so I'm hoping to get some wear out of my capris and shorts. At any rate, I definitely wear my jeans/capris/shorts at least twice, maybe three times, never four. As far as laundry, the first time someone suggested I do laundry on vacation, I thought they were CRAZY. But then I thought, why not? Less to pack and more room for souvenirs! I get up a little earlier than everyone else one morning and head to the laundry room with my book. The time alone for a little while is kind of nice.

This actually sounds really nice. I think that we'll just plan on it.

Thanks for all of the advice! We've traveled a ton, but only to Disney once as a family, and so I'm still learning my way.

We usually go for long enough that we needed a "full on" laundry day, but I have learned to overcome this by getting up really early one morning and doing the wash. I had the laundry room to myself last August. I got up and threw the laundry in the washers (needed 4 of them), then walked down just as the counter service opened for breakfast. I grabbed a hot chocolate and roll, then went back a read my book by the pool as the clothes washed. Switch to dryers, fold, and get ready for rope drop... :thumbsup2

You made it to rope drop!! WOW!!! That's magic for you:yay:

I am worried our luggage will be over the weight limit for checked baggage as we are going late Feb. and will need some heavier clothes. It makes me wonder if doing a load of laundry midweek might be a more economical option!

Tricia

It would have to be really heavy to be over the limit though, a couple of sweaters won't do it.

Digging the use of 'grody' :thumbsup2 as well! Our trips
will overlap :). I re-packed yesterday. Only jeans are on the plane down, all others are capris or light pants and a skirt and dress for a couple dinners (each, I hope). Otherwise I packed an outfit per day with the dress etc for some evenings.
Have fun and safe travels---> :flower3:

We plan on rewearing our pants but new shirts every day. We also rewear PJs. We do laundry, but then again, we stay in DVC places where we have a washer and dryer. I think I would try to do a load or two of laundry if I was going to be there for any length of time, however. It would be worth it to pack less!

I haven't looked at the weather yet for while we're there. How's it looking? I will admit that I was sort of, um, hoping for coolish weather, as none of my capris fit anymore and I really didn't want to have to lose five pounds before we leave.

You have a great time too!

P.S. Grody is a perfect acceptable word. ;)

If you decide to do laundry, BRING QUARTERS. I'd also pack a few of these 3 in 1 sheets in a small baggie:thumbsup2

I'm trying to start the initial stages of packing, and I'm already overwhelmed (but it doesn't take much for me..).

One thing that I'm wondering is if jeans could be worn more than one day at the parks? Or do they get super sticky and grimy and just plain icky from being on rides and benches and buses, etc?
The last time that we were there it was mid-September, and so hot and humid that we definitely needed a full set of clean clothes each day.

It would really help us with packing if we could get a couple of days out of one pair of jeans. Usually I pack waaaaay too much for trips to be on the safe side, then hate myself when I have to carry it. :)

I know that doing laundry there is a possibility, but eh, who wants to do laundry on a vacation?!

So how do you pack? One clean outfit (or more) per day?

^^^ Check the weather then plan accordingly. In the summer we each had two outfits/day. We would go with one outfit during early morning EMH. Stay until mid-day. Go back to the resort. Nap and/or swim. Then showers and changed into the second outfit. There was absolutely no way we would could wear the same outfit all day long. No way! Now if you are going during the winter that may be a different matter. As others have said don't forget some rain gear too. Have a magical vacation! :wizard:

We are going for 12 days and I am only bringing 3 pairs of capris, wearing a pair jeans down and am only taking 6 pairs of underwear. Hows that for grody. :lmao:

We are staying at our time share for the first week and plan on doing laundry. When we move to POP we will have all clean clothes. That said I generally plan on getting 2 wears out of pants at this time of year barring spills. It is totally different than going in the spring/summer/fall. According to the forcast we will probably not see anything over 80 degrees.

I'll bring enough jeans but not a lot of tops because I love buying shirts when I go on vacation

Do they sell cool shorts in the world?
