How formal is formal night?

On a 4 night cruise there is no formal night. There is a Dress Up Optional night.

And while you will see everything - it tends to be short dresses and suits - maybe suits. The dress skews to church and cocktail formal.

On a seven night for formal night - you will see everything - but there will be more people in tuxes or long gowns than you'd see on the four night.

Sailor suit!
So there's formal AND semi?

Haha, DS will only be 21 months so I can still terrorize him with the adorable outfits!!!!

And, usually on the longer cruises, yep! This is only our 2nd with DCL and the first was a 4 night...Not Enough! ;-) So this time we're going for a little longer!!

Mine is 31mo. :-)

We like it to feel special so even if others aren't dressing up for dinner we do. I typically bring a dress for every night of whichever cruise we're on plus a brunch-appropriate Palo choice.

Ditto! Dressing for dinner is one of my favorite parts of the cruise! I usually wear tea length gowns for most nights, and floor length for formal night! Hubby usually wears his suit on formal night, and various combinations of jacket, tie, and dress shirt the rest if the evenings.
