How flexible are the restaurant menus at DW?

I am wondering if things can be omitted from a certain dish or is it "what we see is what we get"? I am asking, because I am allergic to bananas, walnuts, pineapple and coconut. (My grandfather says throw all of those in a blender full of ice and add some vodka and we've got a great drink!! :rotfl: I told him I would be extremely  if I drank it!! ;) )

Anyway......

I have noticed alot of desserts have one of those (or more) ingredients in them. That's not too big of a deal, I can order a different dessert. However, I have also noticed some of the main entrees have some of these ingerdients (or similar). Is it possible to have them left out? For example - there is one steak dinner with plantaines. Could I have the plantaines left out? I know they're not bananas, but they are similar. I'm not sure if my banana allergy would be the same with plantaines and, quite honestly, vacation isn't the time I want to find out!! ;)

We are doing dinners at:

Hollywood Brown Derby
Coral Reef
Wolfgang Puck's
Liberty Tree Tavern

TIA for any info you may have!! :flower3:

Desserts I think would be hard to omit things unles it is a sauce that is poured over or a garnish. As for sides on a meal entree I would think you could. Tell your server & the chef might come out to talk about your Allergies.

Thank you very much for your response and suggestion!! :flower3: I will definitely talk to the waiter/waitress.

hey there!
I've never had a problem modifying entrees and even a couple of desserts at the restaurants at WDW. I have a non-severe nut allergy (makes me plenty sick but not fatal or anything) and am also a seriously picky eater! I often have to choose from the children's menu! If you've called to make ADRs, you can give a CM your confirmation # and have them put an allergy note on your reservation.

Have them note your allergies on your ADR and remind them during check- in. They will usually send a chef out to speak with you.

On our trip last September, my SIL had quite a few food allergies as well. At every restaurant we checked into, we were asked about food allergies, and the hostess made a note of it. The chef would come out and speak with her about her allergies, and made recommendations.
