How fast do hotels book up at Christmas time?

We are thinking of going Dec 5-9 for an early birthday gift for our daughter. My daughter will be almost 5 (b-day 12-11) and our son will almost be one years old (b-day 12-23). We won't be able to book until sept if we need to pay anything at booking. Still looking at booking hotel then buying tickets or booking thur Costco. If we book then I'm just wondering if most things will be booked up by then.

My gut reaction is that you'll be just fine booking in September for early December. I went to the parks that same week (Dec. 9th to be exact) this past year and it was pleasant - of course a rain storm helped keep crowds low, but nonetheless it was nothing like the craziness that comes later in December.

I agree with SonnyJane you should be fine in the early fall. Also because of your dates it's likely you will find if deals are available around then too.

In general you should be okay with September, although with all of the new stuff popping up at DLR and the increasing popularity of the holiday season, I would say that if there is any way possible that you can book earlier than that - even by a month - it would help.

Certain rooms are allocated to certain discounts, packages, groups, etc. Some of those rooms will fill up sooner than others. I've booked December trips as late as October before, but the current special offer I have is one that will require me to book a room for December very soon - like this month - because there is no deposit required, and the other folks who have this offer too are already booking rooms for their holiday trips now, from what I was told.
