How fast can you type?

I type 60-80 words per minute one time i got 90.

That's fast! But are you great at speling:rotfl2:

I use to be a secretary a long, long time ago and typed about 60-70 words a minute.

I type 75 words a minute.

It's amazing me to me how many people can't/don't type anymore. Just because you can type out an email, that is not typing. I do the hiring at my job, we require that you are able to type 40 wpm to start. People always tell me "Oh, yeah, I can do 40 wpm." but then I sit them down at a keyboard and it's all hunt and peck, looking at the keyboard the whole time.

I do not know, because they have not come up with a typing scale that goes that high.

had 2 years of typing class in high school by accident.........walked out of french class and typing was all that was available. at my zenith i was at 65 with 3 errors or less. now i spend 12 hours a day at a keyboard for my job, seriously.... 12 hour days....and then i come home and set here for 3 or 4 more hours.....good thing i walked out of french;)

Haven't tested in a loooong time. Probably around 60-65 wpm if I had to test.

I once had to type 80 wpm for a job. Spent a lot of time banging keys to get there, though. I typed very quickly then, but don't think I could do it now.

I was a secretary for 5 years at Temple University while I was putting myself through school. My boss hired me even though I couldn't type (bless that man). :lmao:I could work on Saturdays and I had excellent organizational skills. Whenever he needed a big typing job done he would hire a temp.:rotfl:Now I am probably at 40/50 wpm as I am at a computer throughout the day and at night. I don't hunt/peck or look at the keys, but do make mistakes. :goodvibes Penny:hippie:

on my blackberry about 30 wpm on the computer 100+

and Kevin is taller than me, but I can see better.

I'm pretty sure I can get 80-85wpm with 90% accuracy. I haven't tested for a while. There is a difference between typing from your head to the keys and reading off something to the keys also. I had typing in 4th grade in 1994 and learned to type without looking at the keys. Ever since then it has only gotten better. Now I'm on the computer all day also, so it works out well.

Also someone quoted BB speed, I think I could be about 25wpm on my LG Voyager.

:goodvibespretty darn fast. i need to do a typing test and figure it out. My cube mates next door are always saying how fast I am (I am usually typing my trip report out- lol!). I am fairly good with spelling too. now you have me all curious to try an online test!

I just did a few online tests because I have no idea. It turns out that I'm about 90 wpm with 95% accuracy. FWIW.

woo hoo- got 85WPM and man, it was tough LONG words too. :thumbsup2 i finally found something i am good at!

true, it is a lot different typing from your head vs. typing in something from paper etc.

I am AWFUL on my iphone though. slow as molasses!

I decided to test and found that I am about 65 wpm with 1 error. interestingly enough I am so used to typing on the computer that I didn't capitalize the words that normally are capitalized by the computer (I, first letter of a sentence). So I had to go back and fix it and that dropped my speed down. :goodvibes So I am a little faster than I thought, but rely on the computer a whole lot more than I thought. I don't look at the keys, but I do backspace to fix typos. Penny:hippie:

I'm old. This thread brings back memories of Regents Typing class in HS, learning to type on huge manual typewriters with no letters on the keys. How far we have come! Back in those days probably about 40wpm. Now, who knows? Probably about 60-70wpm. (and I don't break any nails)
