How far out or To make ADR's or not?

Thanks Wayneg that was good to read and very interesting, we'll be sorting out our ADRs next week for September.

Personally I would take that with a pinch of salt, there are restaurants not mentioned on there such as Ohanas and California Grill that many people have posted on these boards having trouble booking lately. maybe free dining has something to do with this, but especially in the case of Ohanas I would have thought that it would have been mentioned.

I suspect they just picked random places to keep the survey small, what are there over 100 places? only about 30 listed in the survey. Don't know how accurate it is but after spending months of planning our August ADR's & reading thread after thread on the subject I would say their info is not too far out, but no small survey like this can be 100% correct.

The article does say its for park restaurants only. I've posted a comment asking for them to do the same for resort restaurants!

That would be why its limited then, missed that when I read it, thanks.

Interesting, thanks. A very useful side-effect of the online ADR system.
Like the article's author I'm surprised about Coral Reef - I'd considered it but on reading poor reviews, and the almost unbelievable 'kid climbing onto table thread' :scared1: I thought I'd give it a miss.
Also surprised how much more popular Teppan Edo is to Tokyo Dining - although I guess teppanyaki is thought to be more fun and the food is less unusual.
Look forward to the resort restaurant list too.

DD ate at coral reef last year (during free dining) and enjoyed it...she asked that i book it again for this year..

also interesting about yak and yeti - which i think got a bad review from the podcast team...DD ate there last year and was very happy...

DD's vegetarian so her experiences in restaurants are colored by that....
she had some outstanding experiences.....
at the crystal palace, yak & yeti, coral reef, tokyo dining and sci fi - the chefs all came out to speak with her and made special food exactly to order for her..
at chef mickey's the chef also came out and went through the whole dinner buffet with her, to show her what she could eat..

i was especially surprised about the sci fi - where the food is terrible...but what the chef made to order for her was so good, she went back there 3 times and i have 3 ADRs there this year again...

by the way, our ADRs this for September are at:
Chef Mickey's - dinner
Crystal Palace - dinner
yak & yeti - lunch
le cellier - dinner
chef de france - dinner
coral reef - dinner
sci fi - lunch
50's prime time - lunch
tusker house - lunch
boma - dinner

i think that's it..

thanks for the article Wayne - very intersesting...
as for the times - i had trouble getting le cellier even at 90 days out....i had to move our time by 2 hours to get an ADR there...not a disaster, but surprising considering i called at 90 days...

Very few things surprise me anymore. Some things take some believing, amount of times I have been in a buffet and people have asked for boxes to take food home or our 1st Disney cruise the family on our table allowed children to draw on the table cover. I guess we all have different standards, child standing on your table would take some beating though.
Teppan Edo/Tokyo is how I would expect, Teppan Edo was on and off our list about 3 times (now off) Tokyo wasn't a consideration.

Seems to match my experience booking ADRs this year Le Cellier was almost impossible (settled for lunch in the end).

Now off to read 'child standing on table' thread:eek:

Interesting! Not surprised about Le Cellier but a little about Coral Reef, knew it was popular but didn't think that much! We're hoping for both of these in October and although i'd like dinners i'm flexible on times :)
