How far out do you book

We are going back to Disneyland this May after a long hiatus and I'm just making sure our info is still up to date!

How far ahead of time do you book? We always did well with Get Away Today- are they still the best deal in town? We're looking at a hotel as close to maingate as possible because we're traveling with our new baby and don't want to deal with a stroller on a shuttle.

The trip is me, DH, DS(13) and DD who will turn one on the trip! We will do six days in the park with one day in the middle at Legoland to take advantage of the home school discount.

We are also going on may :cool1:

We have set up the dates & I am just waiting for a special promotion to come out (buy 3 days get 5, etc), they are supposed to be out by march-April.

Let's keep our fingers crossed for a promotion outrageously magical :goodvibes

I *think* with getawaytoday they promise to apply any new promo to your package. I would check on that. If you are for sure going to go with them, then there is no reason to not book now if they do have that. Otherwise I'd do a room only cancellable reservation somewhere and wait for the specials.

As soon as I find the rate I'm looking for. I generally start planning a year ahead and have had the next room booked before we even went on this year's vacation.

My mom says I am an anal over planner. LOL

We also book 11 months out - we are going in May too and have been waiting a LONG time. Can't wait!!!

Usually when I go to Disneyland it's a spontaneous trip. I'm in SoCal and have to go there or it's a trip someone else planned and I joined in on the fun a month or two prior.

I agree the farther out you plan the trip the better.

In general, as soon as I have "real" plans to go.

We are planning an October trip and I want to book but not sure about the timing, as my daughter will be attending the local college and we won't know her schedule until May. We will likley book a cancellable reservation soon, but we are going with my mom, so we have to cordinate with her too.

I booked our trip for Sept. 20 yesterday, the whole package, we can change it at anytime. They actually recommended to book everything as early as possible and to just change the reservations in April if the rates or packages change.
