Want to book in fall of 2016. Want to be able to book dining/ Halloween party reservations but would love to know about refurbishments if possible. How far out do you book?

I book my hotel as soon as I know my dates because usually the farther out the better the rate! You can't make Dining reservations until 60 days out and the Halloween party tickets don't go on sale until July/Aug.

We are DVC members so we can start booking VGC 7 months out. For our first DLR trip and for our DLR trip that we are planning for June, I booked right at 7 months from check in because the villas can be really hard to come by. Luckily I was able to get what I wanted :goodvibes. We just decided that we wanted to spend one night at PP (one we have never stayed in before) before checking into VGC, so for that I will be checking to see if prices will go down before biting on that.

DLR is way way more crowded than when we have been to WDW. We plan in advance, hotels, etc. Our family likes to just make a calendar and write down the restaurants we want to eat at and it reminds us to call or book online 60 days in advance. Don't worry if dates are not open, this fall? we couldn't book some of our dates for dining until 30 days out. Disneyland is not good about releasing the dates and keeping to the 60 day advance booking. I found this list online that shows some refurbishments. Big Thunder BBQ/Ranch is closing permanently for a Star Wars area. With that the following are also closed for a unknown amount of time:
  • 01/11/16 - Unknown - Disneyland Railroad
  • 01/11/16 - Unknown - Mark Twain Riverboat
  • 01/11/16 - Unknown - Sailing Ship Columbia
  • 01/11/16 - Unknown - Pirate's Lair on Tom Sawyer Island/Rafts
  • 01/11/16 - Unknown - Fantasmic!
  • 01/11/16 - Unknown - Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes
Autopia and Finding Nemo are also closing permanently according to a CM we spoke with on our last trip. I have found if you call Disneyland the CM's that answer sometime have access to refurb dates that aren't listed online.

I book a couple weeks during the time I would like to travel and then chose the week or days I will be there and once I know my dates are set I let go of those dates and keep the ones I know I will be there. Book out early to get good rates.
