How far/long do you drive to work ??

2 miles.

I don't know how some of you can do those long comutes...day after day.

I think it's the stop-n-go-stop-n-go-----slam on brakes----stop---n--go part that is the worst!!!!!

I work construction so it varies. Right now going to Fairmont, W. Va. from the Pittsburgh area, I drive about an hour, meet my boss and carpool with him about another 40 mins. to the job. Longer when I'm coming home because of traffic. 4pm instead of 4am. I don't mind the drive though. I'd rather have a longer drive then trying to fight city traffic.

I think I winning for longest drive so far. :D yahooo! What a thing to win.

10 mile journey that takes on average about 25 minutes.

Record for the longest journey home is 3.5 hours - we had a surprise snow fall over icy roads and the whole county ground to a halt!

Quickest journey was 12 minutes (although it was on a Saturday morning).

DH and I both have about 3-4 miles in opposite directions.

So it takes 5-8 minutes depending on if I get stuck at a light.

I did the hour each way commute for 4 years and hope to never have to do that again,

I live 7 blocks away from my Job, so when my DH or DS drives me, I am there in 4 min.::yes:: If I walk, its about 12-15 min.

49 miles each way, about 1 1/2 hours on they way to work and about 1 hour on the way home. Unless there is traffic our construction. Yesterday my ride to work was 2 hours and 20 minutes. I have to drive through Detroit to get to work and there is some kind of "dispute" with the Canadian border employees causing massive backups to get over the bridge. All the trucks in line to cross the border were backed up for miles on the expressway. Needless to say I was a bit late.
My job was downsized in June and I was forced to transfer. I went from a 12 mile 20 minute commute to this. I think I may need to find a new job before the snow comes.

I am so glad that I only live less than 5 miles from my job - it takes me about 10 minutes to get to work taking the back roads to avoid the school traffic. If I had to wait in school traffic, it would take me no less than 20 minutes.

I can tell the people who live in the Wash DC area--long commutes.

I'm a SAHM, so I cna't beat the commute. My DH is a WAHD, so his commute is only a few more steps than mine--to his basement office. Our kids can't get away with anything!

Another Atlanta traffic driver here.....

I live 33 miles from work. Average time to work is a hour to a hour and 15 minutes. Driving home it takes 50 minutes to a hour.

To answer your question about stress, I agree, sometimes I wonder if it is worth it. I am really beginning to get tired of fighting Atlanta traffic and the long drive. I wish the pay was better closer to home!!!

I have a 50 mile commute that takes me about 1 1/2 hours each way. If I didn't have access to the pre-paid toll road, it would take me about 3 hours to get home some days!!
