Hey guys! Need your expert advice! :thumbsup2

We are having breakfast at Kona Cafe at Polynesian Resort during our trip. I'm thinking about making that our EPCOT day. So I'm thinking that it would be faster to walk over to the TTC after our breakfast.

Is walking the better option? How far away is it and about how long will it take to walk there? It's a "Mom and Me" week, so I don't want to tire her out too quickly, but she can definately keep up! :cool1:

What do you guys think? Thanks! :goodvibes

Right after breakfast, I'd take the monorail.
Its a long way from the Ceremonial House (Kona) to the TTC.

You would not save much time (if any at all), and your breakfast will digest better without the long continuous walk.

I'm a big fan of getting to the parks at least BY park opening (which is 9:00).

Our ADR time is 7:30, do you think we'll still make it if we take the monorail? Should I try to make it a little earlier?

Figure 30-45 minutes (worst case) to Epcot after Kona.

So, depending on your being seated, the service speed at the restarant and your speed of eating, you might be pushing it with a 7:30am ADR.
Much easier/faster to get to MK from Poly.

A CM said it takes twenty inutes to get to TTC by monorail. TO walk it is about a ten minute walk and actually easier withonly having one ramp to climb up.

Let me disagree here. I just measured it at .37 miles, or about a 10 minute walk at a very leisurely pace. Walking is good for you and your digestion.

With all due respect to Robo, this is starting to become a huge pet peeve of mine. Disney seems to go out of its way to discourage walking (other than within the theme parks of course.) DIS posters have picked up on this and echo it.

Almost any question of "can I walk there" will be answered by claims that such a walk is much too far and/or dangerous. Yes, I understand that there are people with mobility issues. And others who put in 14-hour commando park tours who can't walk another step. But those people usually aren't the ones asking, "can I walk there?"

For most Disney visitors, a 10, 20, 30 minute walk is perfectly reasonable and should be encouraged rather than discouraged.

It is a little walk from the Cermonial house as far as time wise it wont be much in my opinion. When we stayed at the Poly a couple years ago I forget the name of the house we were in but it was faster to walk to TTC then to the ceremonial house. It is a very nice walk to the TTC on a sidewalk nothing dangerous to report here. Download a map from one of the sites so you know where you are going when trecking thru the pOly resort have a great trip!!! The smells of the flowers are wonderful on this little walk!!!

Very easy walk
My DW, dd8 and myself did every time we wanted to go to EPCOT when we stayed at the Poly.

ten minutes top

I agree with those who suggest walking. Unless there is a downpour of rain, in which case staying dry might be more important than speed. We were in Fiji, which is further from the TTC than the Great Ceremonial House, and we always walked to TTC on our EPCOT days. It's about 10 minutes and quite pretty.

It is a very easy walk from the Grand Ceremonial House to the TTC--nice big sidewalks, beautiful flowers.

The monorail will take forever (or so it seems), The time we took the monorail from Poly to MK was over 20 minutes, because they sit and wait at the GF and the MK and the CR, plus they wait after they load at the Poly.

Once at the TTC, you go down one ramp and up another to get to the Epcot Monorail.

I also think that the walk is nice. According to Tikiman's site the walk is not much more than five minutes at normal walking pace. I personally enjoy walking along the paths on the way to the TTC, it is very peaceful. I also find that it helps get rid of that full feeling from breakfast and gives you a boost of energy before you start your day at a park. Enjoy your trip!!

We were in Tuvalu and the walk to the TTC was a little on the long side (not complaining, just stating the facts). It took us about 10 minutes but I'm a fast walker and I pushed the stroller while leaving dd5 and dh in the dust!!! From the GCH figure about 5-7 minutes depending upon speed. I wouldn't take the monorail unless you really want to do the entire loop.

Being able to walk to the TTC is one of the big pluses of staying at the Polynesian. If you take the monorail to TTC, it will take up to 25 minutes, you still will have to get off, walk down and around to the Epcot line, then add 20 minutes, or so, to get to Epcot. If you walk via the pathway, it will take about 10 minutes from Kona. I have yet to spend an hour eating at Kona..it has always been one of the quicker spots to eat for me. So, if you are eating at 7:30, I would imagine you would be done by 8:15. If it isn't any issue getting there (the Polynesian) then I might be tempted to move the ADR up to 7 or 7:15...then you can be really leisurely about eating. But, by all means, use the pathway. It is very pleasant, it's beautiful, it's quick.
