How far is Savannah from HHI??

we went a few weeks ago and it is 42 miles.....but beware you have to go over a HUGE bridge to get there...........and it is SCARY!!!

We had a great time though! If you go you should eat lunch at Ms. Wilkes'....it was AMAZING!

THere is a way to avoid the huge bridge if they scare you.. but it's longer. (Go back to the SAV airport and then follow the signs to Savannah)

There's also used to be a "tour" from HHI by boat that takes you to the Riverfront in the morning and back later in the day. I assume it's still running. (Haven't been to HHI in a few years, hoping to go this summer!)

Mrs. Wilkes is good as is Paula Dean's place. Arrive EARLY for both of them. LONG LINES! LOL! Mrs. Wilkes doesn't do dinner (I think?) , but does a GREAT breakfast!

Savannah is truly a lovely city!;)

We actually want a day early on our trip to HHI. Spent a full day in Savanah and spent the night in a hotel got up spent some more time in Savanah before going on to HHI to check in. It takes about one hour to drive there.

We really loved Savanah and look forward to going back.

Don't know the age of your kids, boys or girls, but if they are into pirates you have to eat at the Pirate House. It is pricey but worth it. It is the actual inn described in the begining of the book Treasure Island.

Also a lover of Savannah here. Other things to not miss:
Forsythe Park
a trolley tour
the Riverwalk
the main cemetary -- I know, sounds weird, but very old and cool
and we liked the Pirate House as well
Finally, if you are a fan of Forrest Gump, a lot was filmed there. (The bench)
Also, they have a great visitor center.
Enjoy!

OMG my dd loves Forrest Gump. She would love to see the bench. :thumbsup2

The actual bench is in the visitor's center. However, Forrest sat on the bench in Chippewa Square. (You'll understand when you get there.)

Another tip is to make sure to rent "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" before you go. They taped the whole movie in Savannah and it is very biographical.

We rented the movie right after going to Savannah, and kept saying...oh I remember that place, and I think I saw that. Its pretty cool, and a pretty interesting movie to boot.

I've made it to Savannah from HH in 45 minutes. The bridge has never fazed me. We love the view from the bridge. Definitely do Mrs Wilkes for lunch (early, if possible). We have also eaten at Paula Deen's, but like Mrs. Wilkes so much more. The pirate house is fun too. Definitely do a trolley tour. It's an on/off ride, which is very convenient. You should also tour some of the historic homes and don't miss the waterfront area. We once took the boat ride from HH, but found that it did not give us enough time in Savannah. Have fun.

I usually fly into Sav. when I've been to HHI, I think about 45 minutes from the airport to HHI is about right. To be honest I don't remember the height of the bridge. To the poster who mentioned it, you may need to stay away from the Vero Beach resort, as the bridge there is pretty big also.
