I am thinking of adding some days to our WDW visit in Aug and the kids LOVE the picts of the POFQ pool. I am only seeing POR rooms available during the time I wanted...is it a big deal to walk to POFQ for the pool?
~TIA~

We have walked the other way a couple of times on our last few trips. It's about 15 mins. or so. Not a long walk IMO. If you have the mugs remember to bring them. You can use them in POFQ foodcourt which is very close to the pool.

In August, the walk feels a lot farther than in say December. The path between the two resorts is blacktop and in direct sunlight and about a 10 minute walk. In September, we found the walk to be just long/hot enough where we didn't want to do it again. The closest building to POFQ from POR is Parterre Place, but its all royal rooms. Oak Manor is as well. The closest you could get is by requesting Magnolia Terrace. However, if you book preferred or are a family of 5, you will be in AB which is longer still.

you can take the boat that goes to DTD and just get off at POFQ, if its too hot. its only a ten min... we did it, not horrible. your going to be walking through the parks during the trip anyway not any different other then u have a pool waiting for u at the other end :)

We took the boat. It added to the adventure and my kids loved it. 10 /15 minutes can be long schlepping kids and beach bags in the FL heat!

How frequently does the boat come? We are staying at POFQ and plan to go to Downtown Disney a few times during our stay.

Does the boat often fill up by the time it gets to POFQ, which I am told is the second stop.

Thanks.

If wanting to go from POFQ to POR pool can you go by boat directly or do you have to ride to downtown Disney first?

The boat goes from POR-FQ-DTD.
So going between the two resorts, there is no stop.

Boats go about every 20 minutes. The only negative is at FQ you kinda stand in the sun and heat. I think there were maybe a few unbrellas that didnt do much. The wait at POR is nicer as you have a dock right up by the buildings. so you can walk about and see the boats come in.

For those going from FQ to POR to swim, this is my tip and what we did. This is based on if you have alot of heat:

The pool at FQ is basically right on the river. You can go there first and when you notice a boat is coming from DTD, you know it's about 20 min until the next one. When I saw the boat coming/leaving this is when I told my kids to got out of the pool, dry a bit, gather our thing, throw on our coverups( I think there is a shirt-shoe rule on the boat). Then by time this was done, the next boat was on it's way. We loved switching pools like this.

The boats run pretty infrequently during the day - 20-30 minutes. In the evening, they run more frequently. It would definitely be quicker to walk, even if it is hot. And the fact that you are walking around the parks all day is precisely the reason we never felt like making the hike back over to POFQ ;)
