How far is Newport Beach from Long Beach?

Thinking of staying on the Queen Mary for a couple days before going to DLR. It will be December and I was hoping to get a whale watching tour and the website says it's in Newport Beach.

GPS says 45 minutes, but it's down the PCH, so expect it to have a bit of traffic. Probably an hour.
