From WDW to Sanibel and Captiva Islands, and what's the best way to get there. We have heard that there is some good seashell collecting there. Thanks for any help you can give us.

From WDW to Sanibel and Captiva Islands, and what's the best way to get there. We have heard that there is some good seashell collecting there. Thanks for any help you can give us.

We always take I4 to I75. MapQuest it for detailed roads in the Ft Myers area. There is a $6 toll to cross the bridge to Sanibel. If I recall correctly it is about a three hour drive. We have done this several times. For good shell collecting go further north towards Captiva Island. The lighthouse beach has shells, but nothing like further north.

It does take around three hours to get there. I have family that live in that area and we often head that direction for a visit on one of our days in Orlando. Shelling on both Captiva and Sanibel is good. Love to hit the beaches there for shells and beach glass. Enjoy.
