How far is Boma from AK?

We currently have a ADR at Yak & Yeti for lunch the day we are visiting AK. But I've heard so many good things about Boma, I am curious how far Boma is from the actual AK park.

First of all, is Boma better than Yak/Yeti?

I wanted to do lunch since we'll be doing the "early to the park, lunch at the park, and then back to the resort for rest time before going out again" thing.

Just wanted to know if it's worth it going out of AK to go to Boma rather than staying in the park to go to Yak/Yeti.

If you're thinking of going for dinner, AKL is about a five minute bus ride from the park. But there are two caveats: 1) you may spend some time waiting for the bus to arrive and 2) the bus will drop off at Kidani Village first before it goes to Jambo House, where Boma is.

Then, you have to think about going back to your resort from the lodge. If AK has been closed for more than an hour you may need to go to another park to get a bus for your resort.

There's no way to walk from the park to the lodge, so it's the bus unless you have a car or are willing to get a taxi.

AK is open until 8pm that day, so that wouldn't be an issue. I just got a 4:30 reservation.

Something to consider if Boma is as good as people say (and better than Y/Y).

We like Yak n Yeti (TS, not too fond of the CS), but my whole family loves Boma. It is a must do for us every trip, no matter where we are staying.

We go to Boma EVERY trip. It is one of our favorites. Never been to Y&Y though, so I cant compare. It is a pain in the tushy to get there though.

:thumbsup2We love Yak & Yeti...and would totally stay in the park to eat at Yak & Yeti, even though we drive so always have a car.

On the other hand, we were severely disappointed with Boma dinner. Normally we are very adventurous eaters (love Mediterranean, Mexican, Jamaican, Asian, Indian, etc.) But Boma just did not do it. As another Disser (MickeyNicki) describes it: Boma food is just too sweet. Lots of vanilla, cinnamon, cardamon, etc and similar spices/flavors which we like better in dessert than veggies & meats. We just didn't care for items like luscious looking BBQ ribs which tasted like the sauce was made from cinnamon red hots candy, for example. There were some plainer dishes available, but the day we ate there the plain dishes were "mobbed" with long lines waiting so it was difficult to get to anything but the highly sweet/spiced stuff. Will say we loved Boma breakfast buffet...mostly American breakfast foods like on the other Disney buffets, but a few interesting/tasty exotic items like goat-cheese eggs and the like. Awesome coffee & juice...definitely best Disney breakfast buffet.

Now if we really had a hankering for AK food, we'd go to Sanaa, getting a 5:00 or 5:30 reservation and hoping to get a window seat where we could see the animals eating on the savannah (zebra and giraffe herds!) The food at Sanaa is a taste of N. AFrica/India without being too strong. And Animal Kingdom lodge is worth seeing as a side trip...it's a fabulous resort. :thumbsup2

Thanks! I think we'll stick with our Y&Y lunch reservation based on the trouble getting over to Boma. :)
