I'm pretty sure we will just pick up our bags at baggage claim and carry them on ME. We have 3 kids and I don't want to chance our bags arriving at the resort late.

How far is baggage claim
To ME? If it's far, I may send dh ahead to get bag and meet him at ME with the kids.
9 more days!!!!

Thanks!!

It depends on your airline and if they have baggage claim on the A or B sides of the terminal.

If your baggage claim is on the B side, then you pick up your bags on level 2 B side and then go down one floor to level 1 where DME is located. This would be the close (or closer) scenario.

If your baggage claim is on the A side, then you have to pick up your bags on level 2 A side and then go over to the B side of the terminal to level 1. This would be the further-away scenario.

When I've done this with Southwest I got my bag on level 1 A side, went up to level 3 and walked across the main terminal, and went down to level 1 B side to get to DME. But there may be a better route than this; I only did that once.

You can use the Wayfinding Map on this page to see which side of the terminal for your airline: http://www.orlandoairports.net/ops/terminal.htm

Thanks!! I will check that out!

Delta is on the B Terminal, so it won't be too bad. You'll just have to walk from Level 3, take the escalator to Level 2 to pick up your bag, and then an elevator or escalator to Level 1 for DME.

What's your backup plan in case your luggage is delayed?

Hmmm, no back up plan. I guess I better think about that :) maybe letting Disney handle it is a better idea. I just don't want my bags to arrive late at the resort. I have heard it can take up to 4 hours, sometimes longer.

Well ... You could put some of each person's stuff in each suitcase so if one suitcase is delayed, no one person would have nothing to wear.

You should put stuff you will need for the first 24 hours (such as toothbrush and swimsuit) in carry on baggage.

If/when you go to the carousel, file a claim with the airline if your baggage does not appear. Including after 10 PM when everyone must fetch their own, with or without yellow tags.

Psst! To the OP: I think you are being grilled on why you don't want to let Magical Express handle the baggage for you. By the way, for Delta flyers, the walking distance to DME going past the carousels is about the same as if you went all the way down to level 1 first and then over to DME.
