how far in advance to book?

I'm considering a trip to the fort for the first week of December in 2015 and I've seen mention on a few threads about the campground being constantly full. So when do I need to make a decision by and plan on booking to be sure that I get the dates I want?

You can make resort only (no tickets) ressie 499 days out, but can't remember if its 499 days to checkin or checkout. You do have some time though, Sunday July 20, 2014 is the 499 day mark.

I would make them as soon as possible. December fills up pretty quick sometimes.

We plan on visiting in February 2015. Do we have to make reservations by phone or is there a way to do it online?
