How far in advance do you start planning WDW trip?

I'm gathering info right now for a trip in November. My 20th wedding anniversary iis in May 2006 (we spent half of our honeymoon at Disney :bride: ) and I'm getting a plan in mind for that. I am always thinking of plans for a trip to Disney. I wish I had the time and money to do more than one trip a year.

Well being DVC....I have dates marked for our WDW vacations out until 2019 (yes I am a very sick person that is why I come to the DisBoards, for support :teeth: )....but I don't start planning the things like how we are going to get down there and our budget until 11 or 12 months before hand.
The trip coming up in May is an oddity....I just decided last week rather then doing a triathlon up here in Maine...might as well do one down in WDW...so I am trying to figure out how to plan a trip on "short" notice and what to do without kids. ;)

602 days out. I plan on making room ressie in about a month. I have had a budget from almost the very beginning so I could make a savings plan.

I started planning our December 2002 trip back in June 2000. Made our Room reservation in October 2000. IMO it is never too early and you can never "over" research.

I never stop planning! My DH thinks that I'm a little overboard, but he is packed and ready for each trip! I guess I have a huge case of "MOUSEITUS!"

We are going Feb 6-12 and started planning the trip about Jan 20. So, about 3 to 4 weeks before we leave!!! :rotfl2: Unfortunately (and Fortunately), we won't be planning another WDW trip for a few years, as the next thing we are planning is a BABY!!!! :lovestruc :lovestruc

MrsTink - Good luck with your baby planning, hope it goes as smoothly as planning at trip to WDW. LOL.

We plan 365 days in advance. I'm a little obsessive about flight prices so they are booked as soon as I see a really great rate. I book the room 9 months in and make my PS's exactly 90 days out. Once that is all done I start on my packing....but that's a whole other thread....... :cutie:

I started planning 15 months out (14 months to go). We decided to switch seasons (stop going in December and start going in the spring) so this will be a really long wait. I wont book the room until about 6 months out. We have already started saving and are doing very well. For now, I will have to read these boards to get my Disney fix.

like many others here i usually start planning .... well actually i never stop planning. even while we are at WDW we often talk about how next year we will eat here, watch fireworks from here, see how many times i can take TOT in one trip, up to 5 now!!.

the joy of a WDW vacation is also in the planning. i usually start my vacation clock at the 300 day mark so when it goes to 299 it doesnt seem so far away.

It might be a little crazy but our tentative date is Feb/07 With school for DH and I as well as other things going on any time we would go we can't be away from home for the 2 or 3 weeks we plan on going for until then. Darn busy work and school schedules. If we could go tomorrow I would but timewise we can't afford it. For now I am driving everyone around me nuts with details. DH keeps asking me if I realize it is 22months away. I tell him it isn't that long the first 22 months of DD's life shot by right? He just rolls his eyes at me and lets me on my magical way. :)

::MickeyMo We usually start 5-6 months ahead of time. I wouldn't be able to wait longer than that for the trip to arrive! ::MinnieMo

I have to agree that you must begin planning the next trip before you get home from your current trip.... that way you never loose that Disney Magic feeling! Planning is half the fun!

We originally were going to make our next trip March 2006, but after hurricanes last year (my oldest DS got no type of birthday anything-we were extrememly stressed). After Hurricane Jeanne, I decided, we would go in Sept. 2005 to Disney, for his and best friends birthdat, so about 11 months out we discussed. Planning really started 2 months ago.

usually about 11months ahead as thats when we can book w/DVC pts
I did however just put a downpayment on a Disney Western Cruise for Aug 06!
we're going to meet several of our cruisemates this summer! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

I am in the throes of planning our very first trip in July 2006. And it's so much fun! LOL!

I am counting the days until the 2006 Unofficial Guide comes out! :cool1:

Hi all :wave2: ,

I always plan my Disney holiday's one year in advance:flower:. Coming from the U.K, i find as long as the deposit is paid I don't start worrying about paying it off until 3 mths before we leave:bitelip: .

We're going again in September 05 :cool1: - but its different this year as I've had to move the date from May to September because I was made reduntant from work in December 2004. I'm now working part-time and the full holiday payment is due in June 2005 :scared1: . Although its a bit of a struggle I still can't wait to go, but this may be my last holiday to Disney for a while  .

I'm just hoping there are no hurricanes to spoilt it this year :sunny: .

We start planning sort of when we arrive. As we eat at different resorts we start deciding on where we want to stay next year.
