How far in advance do YOU pack?

:thumbsup2 I packed everyone's essentials months ago. (Everyone got new outfits, toothrushes, undies, socks, etc..... :rotfl2: ) All so I wouldn't have to worry about laundry before we leave :rotfl: I jsut hope no one goes through a growth spurt before we leave :lmao: I have to let them break their shoes in though

I've been packed for about a week and a half. My trip is in 16 days. I think I packed about 25 days in advance. Actually, make that mostly packed. My checked bag is lacking socks, undies, and one t-shirt, and my carry-on is mostly empty currently. If I didn't need those things between now and my trip, they'd be in the bag now. I won't need shorts or sandals in Michigan before then.

I like to pack way in advance. I don't like surprises when it's too late to fix them. Three in the morning is no time to discover that your favorite shorts are now too tight or you're out of contact lens cleaner. If I didn't pack in advance, I know that would happen to me. I prepare for anything because I'm kind of a jinx.

I've loved reading all the responses. I guess I would keep a "filled with necessities" suitcase, but really can't here in AZ in the garage attic. If I did everything would be melted and/or gross! We had a christmas snow globe that exploded once up there and it wasn't pretty!

Only 10 days to go here - we're arriving on the 6th and the best part is that the kids think we're arriving on the 10th!!! Not sure if we will tell them the night before or when we wake them up that morning. But it's nice to have at least one surprise when your Disney obsessive/spastic mother has been having a countdown for the last 379 days... :rotfl2:

I started a sentence off the other day with "did you know that at the Polynesian..." and was then cut off by my 5 year old who said, "yes, mom, I know everything about it so you can stop talking about it now".

Ok then!

do you need to bring your own laundry detergent for the machines on the wdw resorts?

They do have detergent vending machines in the laundry room. I get free samples in the mail ( thanks to the freebie thread:thumbsup2 ) and I just use those instead!

Right, i think i may have got a bit over excited this year. We have 127 days till our trip and i have already started packing lol Just my stuff, not the families. I have not packed any clothes yet but have packed some toiletries and in the next month i will prob start packing other things. I just cant help myself i'm so excited and have done all the planning so there's nothing more for me to do other than pack.

I start packing kind of early! I throw any new clothes in a bag whenever I buy them and about a week out I start to really pack!

DW is almost packed, Leaving next Friday, Me I wait untill the last minute.

I always pack for the family and myself the night before. I'm always way too excited to sleep anyway, this gives me something to do

I HAVE to pack in advance. If I pack at the last minute, then I forget/leave something. If I wasn't using my luggage before August when we leave, I would ALREADY be packed! :lmao: About 2 weeks before we leave, I like to start washing clothes, ironing, and putting the big clothes in my suitcase.

We are leaving in two days, but I have been packed for about 3 weeks. My sister has been making fun of me every time she comes over and notices the bags in the corner! It really has only been really warm for a couple of days, so it was easy to pack all of the shorts! By the way, we ALWAYS buy new toothbrushes for the trip, my mom did the same thing with us growing up....lol.

We aren'g going until the end of September but I am already making my list!!!! I will probably do the full pack the week before we leave . I don't want to be up all night the night we are supposed to drive down.

We leave in 11 days and I plan to start packing this weekend. I did some shopping yesterday for things like shampoo, etc. I even bought myself a new toothbrush for the trip too!! But while I'll be packed and ready to go, my bf will probably save packing until the night before!! :woohoo:

We leave in a little over 2 weeks and I've just been tossing things to pack on the bed in my loft. I only have a few more things to buy for the trip like moleskins, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, etc. I bought new toothbrushes for us too! They were like $1.50 for a 2 pack- its worth the convenience of not having to worry abut packing our toothbrushes the morning of the trip.

I HATE waiting til the night before to pack. I always end up staying up late and getting like 5 hours of sleep. This time I want everything packed up 2 days before we leave so I don't have to worry about it.

You don't NEED to. They sell detergent, dryer sheets, and softener in machines in the laundry rooms, about $1.00 for one load of detergent, $1.00 for two dryer sheets. Plus, it takes quarters, so you need more quarters, and sometimes the machine is broke. It is just easier and lots cheaper to bring your own.

As far as packing, we're leaving in three weeks from tomorrow. I havn't started packing yet, but we're about to have a rainy weekend, so I'll probably do some packing this weekend. We all have duplicate travel toiletries, so those can be loaded up. Also the rainsuits, bathing suits, water shoes, laundry detergent, dryer sheets can be packed. Each weekend a few more things can be packed, then finally I'll be off work the day before we leave, so I'll finish up and load the truck that morning, but then the rest of the day I've got to get a hair cut, get my nails done and then go to my youngest son's Graduation!!!! then a big dinner out. Hopefully, I can then get some sleep, cause I've got to roust my oldest out of bed at 5am so he can leave for his flight. (We are on different flights due to FF miles availability). Then roust the rest of us up, pack up hubby's CPAP and off to the airport.

In between all this is Prom, tennis state finals (son's girlfriend), Senior baseball showcase, Senior award day, and working extra hours to use less vacation time.

Geez, I'm tired already!!

Ha ha ha ha.....I started in Febuary. I have my portable DVD player, maps, my binder, sunscreen, etc...all packed up in my room. My DS says I am obsessed...WHO MEEEEE??????

Sounds like you've got a couple of busy weeks ahead! Just think all those important things going on will make the weeks fly by. Good luck with everything and in no time you'll be in the Kingdom!! :sunny:

I am sooo glad to see that I am not as strange as the whole family has made me think. We are less than two months away and I have started packing. Got the water spray bottles, some disposable cameras for the waterparks, etc. I didn't think about new toothbrushes but that is a good idea. I bought a makeup kit that will fit in your pocket (I won't be carrying into the park) that has the lipstick, eyeshadow, and blush. Just to save a little room. The rest of the family just doesn't seem too excited. My son just keeps saying he is scared of flying. My husband is heading to Iraq so that is all that is on his mind, which, I do not blame him. I guess this trips takes my mind off of it. Sure is nice to get to communicate with others that share the same excitement.

We check in for 8 nights at CBR next Friday.

I'm going to start packing tomorrow!!

26 days away and DD & her BF had 1st "what to pack" discussion last night. She even went as far as discussing what to wear at which park? Someone enlighten me please! Does it matter? :confused3 The weather will be the same whether you go to Mk or MGM!! Oh well! You have to love the enthusiasm of kids!! :thumbsup2 . I went in her room this AM and she's pulled out the clothes she's taking :goodvibes
