October isn't, from what I understand, a monsterously busy month. You can probably wait a while before booking. I wouldn't wait till the very last second, though. If in doubt, call the DC hotline and ask them.

It could be... or it might not. In October, our average high is around 85, our average low around 65. But our weather is fickle and can change day to day (such as this week, which went from high 80s on Saturday to the 50s last night!). Nevertheless, DC is still do-able. The last time I went was in late December. It was freezing out, but ya just grab a long wetsuit, bring warm clothes to change into afterwards, and go on ahead! The water stays constant temperature all year round (80s in the river & pool, 77ish in the reef/rays, 72ish in the dolphins). And cold air makes the water seem much warmer and more inviting. ;)

What if it rains?

You get wet. :cool2:

Rain in FL has a tendency to come and go in a heartbeat. We regularly get sudden afternoon storms which last 15min to an hour, but go away just as quickly. DC doesn't close for rain, but will begin to temporarily close the pools when lightning approaches. Just wait it out in the gift shop or whanot and they'll reopen the water when the lightning danger has passed.

=)

We have been twice in mid November and we had no problem with the temperatures. The water temperature is kept at a constant level and wet suits are available.
For our first November trip we booked two days ahead.

Book now. If it's more than 100 days out, you'll get a 10% discount.

I am a newbie here and appreciate all the advice! We just booked yesterday for Oct. 26 for DC. My daughters 6 and 8 can not wait to get in the pool with the dolphins. By booking early we were able to get the 10% discount and save money. We are coming down Oct. 21 - Nov. 1 for our first Disney family vacation with the girls. My wife and I were at Disney World for our honeymoon 11 years ago and my 2 daughters can not wait to "finally" get to do DW! We are going to go to Sea World, DC, and Kennedy Space Center as well as Disney World. Again thanks to everyone for their advice it is really appreciated by those of us planning our trips to Orlando area! We are actually flying in from Iowa so this will be a big deal for the kids, first airplane ride, first Disney, etc. they can not stop talking about it to their friends. They are also checking all the websites for kids information on what to do. Thanks again!
