How far in advance do you book your WDW vacation?

  • I book a year or more out ....if I'm not on a WDW vacation I've got my next one booked.

  • 6 months to one year.

  • Less then 6 months out ... most of my vacations are on short notice.

How far in advance does everyone book their WDW vacation? Our recent August trip was booked November of 2006. We went as a family of five and had two rooms at POP with dining and water parks and more tickets. Since we were taking to extra people on our vacation it was costing me more money then our next trip will with just the three of us, so I needed more time to pay for it. We are looking at going in September of 2008, hopefully for free dining ;) but I'm not sure if I should book now or wait until April or so of next year if the free dining promo is released:confused3

I would wait for the free dining promotion BUT I would book your dining reservations for 6 months before you go so you have the ones you want!

The past few trips we've averaged 6 mos to 1 yr. If I was smart I'd begin planning a trip for 2008. It keeps the "magic" going and gives me something to continually look forward to. :cloud9:

one year - immediately upon returning from one trip, we book next year's trip - that way i'm always in "disney trip planning" mode!

Most of our vacations are short-notice, so I book less than 6 months in advance, but I've never had any problem finding rooms available. :)

I booked our October trip to Poly 11 months ago. That is the farthest out I have ever booked a trip. Usually I book 6 months out for Disney and 1-3 months out for everything else. I'm getting better about advance booking though. When I was in my twenties I would book vacations at most 30 days out. There is much planning and more to pack with kids and pets and DH.

I am usually booking within 6-8 months, depending on the time of year we are going. But, last Dec. we went, started booking 8 mths ahead, then we took a last minute trip in May and it was within a month. Both were great trips, but at the time of year (May) I didn't feel the urgency and we really hadn't decided, since we had just went in Dec.

We are currently booked the end of Jan. 08 and I made room ressies in July.I am not expecting the parks to be full, but it's supposedly conference time and I did not get any availabitilty at the Cont. So, we are back to the BC!! It's great- but the little kids wanted to be able to just walk(run:rotfl: ) to the MK and see it out the Tower Room window!!

Because your first choice included: "if I'm not on a WDW vacation I've got my next one booked" I selected that answer. Usually, that means 6 to 7 months out for us. My DH says that I'm much easier to live with if I have a WDW trip booked and am planning a trip. So, to make him happy I always have one to look forward to:goodvibes

We book at least 6 months out b/c of ADR's. We are character dining addicts and we must do CRT for my DD. I'm a freak about Disney planning - my friends tell me so!:rotfl2: I'm actually helping someone plan thier Disney trip right now - They told me in September they wanted to come in October. I was like "Have checked to see if you can get a room?" She checked and all the deluxes were booked for thier time period. So we are now planning a Feb trip for her.

If I'm not there, I'm planning to be there. Heck, sometimes I'm planning to be there again, while I'm there. :thumbsup2 DH just doesn't understand.

Most of our non-Disney travel is pretty last minute (DH came home on Friday and decided we should go away for the weekend - it was less than an hour from him walking through the door until we were packed & on our way! LOL), but for Disney, we prefer to plan at least 6 months out because dining is such a big part of our vacation enjoyment. We've done some shorter notice Disney travel, but I enjoy the process more when I can take my time, have my park days planned and make my ADRs at 180 out.

The last few trips have been about three months, but normally its six to ten months in advance. We have started to plan our Dec. 2008 trip, I can't imagine waiting a whole year to go back to Disney...

I booked in July for a Thanksgiving trip - that's around 5 months. Doesn't seem last minute to me, but compared to some of you guys who plan a year or more out, I suppose it is.

I have my reservations already and I don't get to go until next August....I can't wait:)

i have booked most of our trips maybe a couple months before. and at least 3 trips i decided like 3 weeks before. one trip was 1 1/2 week before. alll the trips were GREAT.............like right now, we really wanted to go in oct. but im not sure if we will make it.
