How far in advance are rooms assigned, specifically at BLT

Hi everyone,

I posted in resorts, but should have probably come here first to those familiar with DVC:
We are renting points and staying at BLT in October! I just got word that we've been assigned a lock-off 2 bedroom. We were hoping for a dedicated, but from what we're told, that is determined when the reservation is made. Is the room also decided so far in advance (in our case 11 months) or can we still request/hope for a particular area?
 
Dedicated or Lock-Off are booking categories that are guaranteed, you should discuss the reservation with the person that you rented from.

Location requests are also added to your reservation and they are just requests. They can be added at any time but the reservation info is sent to the resorts starting as early as 10 days before check in.

Request are just that they may be granted or not. It really depends on what is available the day you check in.

The dedicated vs lock off is not a request it is a booking category. Most of the folks that responded to your first thread are DVC owners and gave you the correct info there.

regardless of when the room is assigned, the staff will not tell you what your room is until you physically show up at the resort to check-in (I've tried 3 times at 3 different resorts, after using online check-in.... didn't matter)

either way, if you are unhappy with your room assignment at check-in, you may request to be moved. most cast memebers are as accomodating as possible with the rooms that are available.... in my experience. even if they can not accomodate your request on your first day, they generally offer to move you during the middle of your stay when your request becomes available.
