How far from PIE (St. Petersburg/Clearwater) to Disney

We are looking at possibly flying Allegiant to St. Petersburg/Clearwater airport for our March trip. They fly in on Saturday and thats what we have to have. I know Allegiant flies into Sanford (we have done that before), but they only fly during the week. Anyway, does anyone know how far PIE is from Disney and what exactly does PIE stand for- the real name of this airport? Thanks

It's about 90 mins away. Tampa Intl is just over an hour, and St.Pete is about 30-40 mins further west,,,depending on traffic. The drive to Tampa isn't bad, but traffic can be nudgy further west of there.

PIE is St Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport. It is located in Clearwater and it is a very small but generally traveler friendly airport.

Goofy4tink is correct as to travel time, 90 minutes or so if all goes well. Travel during rush hours however can about about an hour to that. Your Saturday travel should be easy.

If you are renting a car you should make sure that the rental counter will be open when you arrive. The last time I returned a car on a weekend only one company had it's on-site counter open.
