Hi Everyone!
I first wanted to say that I just love these boards! I've been reading them for nearly a year, but this is my first post...we've finally got the dates set for a trip to Disneyland!!!!

My nephew just HAS to go to Seaworld, and we know that's in San Diego. We are driving in from Colorado Springs, and planning on driving overnight Saturday into Sunday (three drivers, so at least everyone will get some sleep) We were planning on arriving in San Diego on Sunday morning, doing Seaworld, then driving to Anaheim for Disney...am now wondering how long it takes to get from Seaworld to Disney. I've got the maps coming from AAA, but am too curious to wait. If it takes a while, we may stay the night in San Diego, then drive to Anaheim in the morning...
Any help would be appreciated -- Thanks!!!! <IMG WIDTH="15" HEIGHT="15" SRC="/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif" alt="razz">

I also live in Colorado Springs. I'll be driving from Colorado Springs to SoCal the first 2 weeks of June this year.

It has been 15 years since I lived in SoCal, but for a year I drove Long Beach (close to Disneyland) to San Diego. It took about 1.5-2 hours, with little or no traffic. Speed limits are probably a bit higher now, but if you are making the drive anywhere near rush hour, then all bets are off.

We plan to do Sea World one day we are there. We're going to drive down to San Diego the night before. It will be a hassle changing hotels for a couple nights. Even worse would be trying to drive about 100 miles on CA freeways anywhere near a time people are trying to get to or from work.

First of all, welcome! It's comforting to know that others out there are also nuts about Disney!

I concur with the previous posts, I'd allow a minimum of 1 1/2 hours to drive between Disney and San Diego. We've done it several times, it's a fairly easy drive. However, we live in Hawaii, and are not used to long drives, so we usually stop once at a rest stop along the way.

After all that driving - I would not be up for a 90+ minute drive to Anaheim after driving all Saturday night and visiting Sea World on Sunday. How about driving to North San Diego on Sunday night - about 40 minutes from Sea World. In Carlsbad you can have a wide variety of overnight options - 5 star hotels (Aviara and the famous La Costa Resort) all the way to a very nice Motel 6 off Interstate 5. Then, wake up on Monday and you have less than a 1 hour drive to Disneyland.

If you would like any advice on hotels in North San Diego County please email me. :D
