My commute is pretty short, and the actual drive only takes me about 15 minutes, but the parking and walking in to the clock on time takes another 10 minutes.

DH has a longer commute. He just took a job in the next town over, about 17 miles to the northeast. Unfortunately, his mom, who is our babysitter, lives about 20 miles southeast of us. This wasn't a problem because he worked 1 mile from his mom's house, but now it makes his commute extremely long on the days he has to handle drop off or pickup, as he has to go from our house, to his mom's house, to work, in a big triangle.

I'm about 45 miles from my work. I live in the countryside and commute into London on the train then bus everyday. It's about 2 hours door to door but can be more if the trains don't behave themselves.

From my house to my office - like 19 miles each way. Ranges from 30 minutes to upwards of an hour, depending on traffic.

During the school year when I'm driving car pool - it's 25 miles to the office from the school, so figure 6 or 7 miles to school (opposite direction of work) and then backtrack down to the office. Fortunately, I don't have to go back to school in the afternoon for pickup.

About 6-7 miles each way. I couldn't deal with a long commute. Some days I go home on lunch or to the kids school to take care of something. I feel I need to be close.

My last professional job (2004-2008) was 55 miles away. Longest commute I ever had. That's when I bought the MINI Cooper and stopped driving the '95 Ram. It was lowered 4 inches but still in comparison it felt like driving a barstool on top of a refrigerator. I put 26K miles a year on the MINI. Now we run a business out of our home and drive maybe 7000 miles a year, all for fun and groceries.

My current commute is 35 minutes due to traffic. Last year I taught in a district different from where I lived and it was 60 miles away. That meant that I left home at 6:05 to get to school by 7:15. I left that job and the commute behind!

Previously my commute was less than 5 miles and it was heavenly! But I have had the 1:15 hour commute each way for many years, both for school and work. The worst commute DH had was when he worked in downtown Washington DC. If he was out the door by 4:30am his commute would be 40 minutes, any later and it would get up to 3 hours. Likewise if he left work by 4pm he'd be home in 50 -65 minutes. After 4pm and it would become 3 hours.

I chose 30+ this was when I did work, retired now. This was not hated driving, because it was through the city I grew up in. Albeit, in the winter I disliked it. This was also when driving was new to me so.. The novelty had not worn off. :car:

The most disliked commute I had was before I drove; 3 bus changes! 1 outer city, 2 inner, and I hated that especially in the winter! :cold:

My commute is about 30 miles but can take between 45-60 min pending traffic. And if it rains or snows add even more time.

It's 12 miles, but takes about 30-40 minutes in each direction. It just depends on traffic and the route that I decide to take home to avoid it.

45 miles by train, 1 Hour 20 Mins Door to Door.

Thats pretty standard for people who commute to London

About 3.5 miles. Takes me about 8 minutes.
I used to have a 60 miles each way commute about 12 years ago. It was opposite traffic so took about hour and ten. No thanks. I was happy to be done with that.

It's why no matter how hard I try, I can't bring myself to get a "nice" car. I beat the living daylights out of it. Between the commute and running the kids everywhere, I'm putting 30k-35k per year on the car...that's assuming I work from home once or twice per week. I so much want to get a fast highway lizard like a Hyundai Genesis 5.0 sedan or Chrysler 300C (Hemi of course) but I'm going to murder it, and fuel mileage.

About 8 miles, a little under 20 minutes.

My previous commute was technically only 20 miles by car, but because I took public transit/walked it took me about 2 hours each way. Never again.

My commute is from my bedroom to my family room, about 15 steps. I'm a freelance book editor and I work from home. But not in my pajamas - I do get dressed.

Queen Collen

Any particular genre that you specialize in? I've got a novel in the works - but it got put on hold this summer due to health issues. Hoping to finish it up by Christmas!

Currently 11 miles (25-30 min each way), but we're moving next week, so it will be 13 miles.

3.5 miles - I either walk, talk the El, or drive.
Driving takes anywhere from 15-40 minutes - there is a stop light on every block!

I voted twice, since I substitute teach at different schools. The closest is less than 2 miles, but none ore over 20.
