How Far Do You Drive?

In my opinion, driving (as opposed to flying) to WDW is a big part of the experience. How far do some of you drive to get there? Anyone from way out west make the drive?

We switch between flying and driving. We drove in 08. Flew in 09. Drove in May of this year. And flew this last trip this past week.

When we drive, its about 16 hours if I'm driving and a bit faster if DH is driving. We drive it straight through on the way there and do it in 2 days on the way back. I don't know if we'll drive once we have kids though

We live about 13-14 hours away. For our first trip in 09 we flew. We are going back in May 11 and we are going to drive. My DH will not pay for 4 airline tickets without being able to pay for at least half in airline miles. My girls want to go back at Christmas time so maybe in Dec of 12 we can go at Christmas and fly.

We drive about 880 miles one way and take us about 14 hours. We love it and feel its a big part of the vacation. Luckily for us our dd's are excellent travelers and enjoy the drive down as much as we do. We are heading down for our 6th trip next week!

We're a family of five -- 980 miles away from WDW.

When two or three of us go for a short trip like a long weekend, we fly.

When we all go, for a week or more, we drive.

Little over 400 miles one way. We always drive. It's about 7 hrs depending on how much we stop.

No idea on the mileage but it usually takes us about 11 hours (with 2 small children). We live in Upstate SC. About to do the dreaded drive in a little over a month~~wish us luck

We took the "drive of death" this past year. My husband is a commando driver. I think it is around 900 miles. It took us @15 hours each way. I actually like driving so that we have a car and aren't limited in what we can bring. It's nice having the comforts of home. Having a GPS made the drive much more relaxing this time around too.:thumbsup2

We drive from Ohio...12 hours to Valdosta, GA, and then only 3 hours the next day. It's really not so bad! On the way home, we suck it up and do it all in one day....or I should say my husband sucks it up and drives it all in one day!;)

We alternate between flying and driving.

When we drive its a 2 day trip. It takes us (roughly) 10 hours to get from our home in Texas to Pensacola Florida. We stay the night in Pensacola and then continue on to Orlando which is another 8 hours.

When I was in college my best friend and I drove from RI to Disney in August with no A/C.

With the kids we have flown- but I am considering a drive this summer. A/C is not negotiable :goodvibes

About 550 miles from our house to the Mouse's House- takes us 8.5- 9 hours, depending on how many gas/potty stops we make.

IF....and a mighty HUGE if at that, it's 1400 miles one way. I really don't see how driving any distance within reason is worth driving. Flying is just way worth the time and rest you save. That drive in Aug 09 would have cost us easy $700. 2 12hr or days, 1 night hotel, food, wear and tear on car, and such X 2. We (4 of us) flew for just under $1000. That's after driving 3 hrs to get to the airport, and then a 3hr flight. Way too much time and REST saved for $300 or so. That one weeks vacation would have have to have been 2 weeks. And I'd rather spend that time in the World. Enjoy your trip! :thumbsup2

When we take our band to WDW for Magic Music Days, we bus it down. 1,522 miles. We have two drivers per bus so we can drive it straight through! 28 hours - one way!! Some of the best memories of the trip are from the bus ride! Tougher on the sponsors than the kids!
