How far do you commute to work?

About 15 mins. If I hit the lights right I can be there in 10... I can't imagine it being longer.

I live in the same town I work in and am about 3 miles from my office. I worked in Manhattan for about 8 years and my door to door commute was about 90 minutes. Having a commute like that made me become very organized. Everything was laid out the nite before so I could be up & out the door in about 20-30 minutes.

Well consider yourself lucky! When both spouses work in different parts of a large city, there is no obvious way if avoiding long commutes for at least one.

12 miles, about 15 minutes on country roads. I would not want to do a long commute at all. Winter weather, boredom, the extra time it would take from my day, would all be major problems.

Dh's "commute" would be from the house to the far end of the driveway. When he gets in his semi, he is at work, but then spends the rest of his day driving it around! I would be bored to death driving that much.

20.0 miles one way. I'm out in the middle of nowhere and it takes me 20 minutes (15 minutes of 55mph speedlimit car catching you and blinding you in the mirror if you're not doing 70 and 5 minutes of 50mph back road.)

Takes me nearly half the time as all the folks who live "close to work" in town and only 6-8 miles away. Others live 20 miles south and can take an hour.

45-50 minutes in perfect conditions. It's taken me over 2 hours to get home in the snow. However, I have great coworkers and the minute it starts snowing they send me home.

During tourist season (some of Spring, all of Summer, some of Fall [mainly the holidays]), an hour and a half. During most of the rest of the year, 45-50 minutes. I live in Hampton, VA and work in Virginia Beach (but also have an office in Williamsburg, which also takes awhile to get to). I have figured out a crazy back roads way, though, to almost always get me home in an hour during heavy tourist season, but it it involves one of our many tunnels and if it ever shut down (due to an accident or "disabled" vehicle), it would take me about an hour and a half to two hours going another route.

I drive a Prius so the gas doesn't bother me. I also don't really mind being in the car. I just kind of zone out and do my thinking :). We have a house in Virginia Beach, too, that we currently rent out (I was working in Williamsburg and was relocated to Virginia Beach when we bought the house in Hampton) and may move back into at some point and my commute would be 5-10 minutes.

My fiance and I carpool a lot so we get to chat and sometimes we just stop for dinner somewhere if the traffic's really bad.

About 15 minutes. I used to commute 1 hour and 15 minutes each way and it was hellish. That job only lasted me a year. My husband commutes into the city by train-- he's at 1 hour and 30 minutes each way.

I commute 53 miles, which approximates out to 1 hour and 15 minutes. It's actually longer than that because I drop my DH off first, and that adds at least 10 minutes, but that's the time it takes on a good traffic day, without rain, when I'm just driving myself. However, this commute results from a choice in living situation that came from where my DH used to work. Now that we're both in the same city we are definitely looking to move closer.
