How far ahead do you book your WDW resort?

We are planning to visit WDW in 2020, possibly May or Oct/Nov. I know WDW will get quite busy after SWGE opens and I am wondering when I should book our resort? We will likely stay at POR, POFQ or if finances are tight, then POP. Thanks, everyone!

We never have or will book until discounts are released. So usually 6 months out. Every once in a while it will be farther out if we book a bounceback offer.

I'm all over the place with when I book.
It really just depends on when I decide to go.
I've booked about 30 days out before and I've booked 15 months out before and everywhere in between.
For my trip coming up in July I booked on a BB offer during my last trip which was in December.
I don't k now when my next trip will be after the one coming up but when I decide when then I'll book.

I only book mine about six months out. I wait for the resident discount then book our room. This year I booked Jan 20 for our June 2 trip.

I am ust thinking that after SWGE opens up completely, that 2020 will likely be a busy year. The resorts may book up fairly quickly and I don’t imagine there will be a lot of discounts offered. I welcome all thoughts and opinions!

I doubt it will have that much of an effect but I guess you never know. I plan on going next year as well but no clue when or where I'm staying so I'm not booking anything this far out.

We will be booking first day room rates are out, but we are planning on going in late sept 2021 right before MK’s 50th anniversary...I doubt that there will be discounts, and expect the rates will only go up. If we are wrong, we will call and have any promotion added to our stay or work it out.

We usually book at 1 yr out, but this year with Star Wars opening, it was slim pickings even a year out. I'd say book as soon as you can, and if discounts come later, then call to apply them.

If it's room only and not for a package, you can book 499 days in advance, or about 16 months. So, right now you can already book into August, 2020. I'd book as soon as you know your dates and then apply discounts later, as others have suggested...

I book when I know when I want to go, and firm on my resort and dates. If I’m booking with no discount, it’s because I’m comfortable with the price if no discounts come out. Otherwise, what’s the point?

I’ve booked as early as 499 days out on a few occasions.

For our last trip and our next we booked our room only reservations when they first became available, at 499 days out. Although it is rack rate, it ensures we have the room type we want at the resort we want. For one of the resorts, we switched from the hotel side to the DVC side when they became available at around 10-11 months out.

We keep an eye out for discounts and if there are any available apply them. However, since there aren't always discounts, we ensure that the original books are ones we would be happy with staying at at rack rate.

I've done from almost a year to a few weeks, however with SWGE opening, I would book as soon as you can and then watch for discounts. That way you won't be disappointed if your resort is booked up.

We always intend to book 6 months out. Ultimately, we never booking until about 4 months out. Not sure why it always works out that way, but it does.

We've been booked room only for May 2020 since February. :o

But we do have a specific room category at a specific resort that we want.

We do Food&Wine at Board Walk on rented DVC points and rooms go fast so we book 11 months out. A week or so after the end of one trip we're booking the next.

If you know you will travel on a specific week, it makes sense to book your Disney room well in advance. There is no guarantee discounts will become available by waiting and the specific resort/rooms/week you want may be gone if you wait.

I book when I decide to go. Normally my trips aren't planned far out so I'll book a month out. If I'm going for something specifically and know I'll be there I book farther out. When I went over NYE I booked as soon as hotels became available.
