How fancy is Chefs de France?

We are not fancy people. I have to admit I'm a bit intimidated by restaurants that have food that I can't pronounce. One night we have ADRs at Beirgarten, which is more our speed, but I've read mixed reviews, and that night we will be coming from the International Gateway and France is so much closer than Germany. I am considering changing but I want to make sure we will be comfortable there. We will have dd8 and ds5 with us.

Chefs de France has the best dining available inside the theme parks. Having said that, it is INSIDE the theme park, so it's definitely more casual than you'd expect. Many folks notice a little big of "French effect" but I believe it's good-natured and it doesn't degrade from the experience at all. If great food is your #1 priority, then stick with Chefs de France.

Biergarten is much more layed-back, of course. It's got Octoberfest seating (you sit on long tables with strangers), and it is a buffet. The food is good, not great. It is a lot of fun. I think the children will be especially amused by the entertainment (though it can be a bit loud).

I bet you'll have a great time either choice you make.

I agree with everything Bicker said, about both Chefs de France and Biergarten. ::yes::

I am the same way about food. I am fairly picky, and eat mostly plain, american type food.... and I won't eat somewhere that I cannot recognize the food when I read the menu. I ate at Chefs De France, and LOVED it. There are some "weird" foods on the menu, but also some regular food. I had chicken, basil mashed potatoes, and bread, and it was great!!! Of course, it is decorated more like a fancy restaurant, and the Germany place sounds like alot of fun for the kids, but I have never eaten there.

You will be fine at Chefs de France. Bistro de Paris, upstairs, is the fancy one. I have eaten at Chefs and Biergarten and loved them both! Have fun!

You'll have no problem at all. It's really pretty basic food and we were in t-shirt and shorts having been in the park all day. The Biergarten was OK. DH liked the buffet and I didn't care for it. We both really thought the food at Chefs de France excellent.

What bicker said. This is right on the top of our lists of places to eat at WDW. Please don't worry about it being "fancy". Almost everyone has on "park clothes", shorts and t-shirts. And the menu is not "scary" LOL!! I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!!

Have Fun!

Ditto. Chefs de France is not pretentious at all. If you think your kids can hold out long enough, try making your ADR for around 8:15 or 8:30 and ask for a table near the World Showcase Promenade. At 9, they will dim the lights and you can get a great view of IllumiNations.

Right in line with what everyone else has said, even if the menu includes the French names, it also has clear, plain English descriptions, so you can simply say, "I'll have the grilled ham and cheese sandwich" and not have to worry about saying 'Croque Monsieur,' and the waitstaff is not pretentious at all (they want their American customers to be happy!).

Enjoy -- it's a lovely place.

Just piling on to what everyone else has said. :cool1:
It really is a great place and it is not too fancy. I was the same way & my DW really wanted to go. I told her if I had to change clothes I wasn't going. We have reservations for our 5th night and when we were there on our 2nd day I went in and checked it out :rolleyes1 and saw it was park casual. No changing and getting dressed up so we went for it. It was really good and our kids really enjoyed it too. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I'm gonna check out kaatieeldlr's suggestion and go for a late reservation to see Illuminations with a late dinner. We are already set for 5:30 but it might be fun, and even a little :smooth: I might earn a few extra brownie points for that.

Go for frenchie, you'll enjoy it.

YO
