We're going to Disneyland in April and I know my daughter is going to want a dress or two when she sees them in the shop and at the Fantasy Faire...just how pricey are they and are they the same as in the Disney Store?
I have half a mind to buy some here at the Disney Store and take them with us...
any thoughts/suggestions?
Are there many things that are different from the Disney Store? Is everything super expensive?
When I last went about 14 years ago, I remember being surprised at how inexpensive the merchandise was...but now, I don't know!
DD is 5 and we're taking her as a surprise - she'll find out once we check into the DL hotel :yay:

Not cheap! My girls got them last year at Disneyworld, and they were $60 each. I recommend hitting the Disney store by home and packing one or two as a surprise.

We bought a really super nice Belle outfit for out DD to wear when she went to the Bippity Boppity Boutique (WDW). It was really good quality and a great price because we bought it from www.disneyoutlet.com and took it with us. I recommend you do the same. Beware though, if you havent' found disneyoutlet.com yet, be prepared to go crazy and buy many things you don't really need because there is so much great stuff at great prices.

We also bought two Minnie outfits and one Mr. Incredible outfit.

Yes I was going to suggest what others said, its very pricey like $60 and its best to pack some after you purchased them at an outlet or the Disney Store.

I would suggest to buy them before not only to save money, but also because the first day you go it would be VERY speacial for her to wear a dress into the park! I always see little girls dressed up in their pretty dress ( I have to boys :sad1: ) and are sooo happy when they see a princess in the very same dress :lovestruc ..... I'm hoping the babys a girl cause i'm gonna buy every princess dress i can find for her first trip so she can wear a diffrent on every day :rotfl2:

We bought 2 dresses beforehand, and "Tinkerbell" left them in the room as gifts to wake up to... very exciting for a 3.5 year old. We got ours for about $40-$45 at the Disney store beforehand, and they were some of the "fanciest" ones I saw kids wearing at the parks... funny thing to notice... but dd doesn't miss a thing... she was really thrilled to have the fancy floofy skirt and all that (some stores carry lesser quality ones around town), and the dresses have held up even to repeated washing!

While standing in line for a ride at Disneyland, I overheard a mother (whose daughter was wearing an adorable Jasmine outfit) telling other guests in line that the princess dresses are very expensive, so she bought some princess pajamas for her daughter. They are just as pretty and not as expensive.

Edited to add that the pajamas didn't look like regular pajamas, they really did look like the outfit that Jasmine wears. I wouldn't have known the difference.

We actually had people stop and take photos with our daughter!!!:lmao:

Oh, and then my daughter caught a diva complex.

definitely not cheap at all. I've heard that people order them from the disney website, or the store or ebay to save money.

I also would buy online b4 going to the park. We did last year for our kids and they had surprises every day. Here is a link to some of the princess dresses they have int he outlet right now :)

I do the same. I allot $50 for DS to spend in the parks and then Mickey surprises him in the room with stuff from disneyshopping or the dollar store. I found really cool POTC stuff at Dollar Tree last week and a Mickey puzzle.

Is is safe to assume then that most of the souveniers in DL are way more than their online shop or other disney stores?

A cheaper alternative is Target. I got a Sleeping Beauty dress on sale last week for $14.99:thumbsup2 (reg $19.99) They also had Snow White, Cinderella and Tinkerbell. And I figure at that price, she can destroy it in the 4 days we are in the park if she wants to :yay:

My guess is if you go to Disney shopping online or an online costume store you might be able to pick one up fairly cheap. The dresses are pricey at the park and remember not only are they spendy but they are situated right next to all the uber pricey accessories that every little Princess must have. ;)

Thanks for the links! I shopped and didn't get a dress, but got an Ariel jacket and tiara, HANNAH MONTANA jacket ($10), little outfit for the dog (poor Malcolm has to dress as Minnie). And I'm sure I'll be getting catalogs now so that we can keep shopping. I found a Snow White dress at a resale shop for $4; also got a couple of Princess shirts for our trip at $3 each.
