Do you have to reserve at a DVC resort? For instance- I own at BCV's. Do I have to reserve at the villas ONLY, or can I reserve a club level room at BC or WL or any other resort that has a DVC resort?

Hope that makes sense!?!?!?!?

The member cash discount (when available) applies only to the DVC resorts. It is 25% off rack rate.

There are no discounts for non-DVC resorts available thorugh MS.

SO- it's only good if reserving a room at BCV's or WLV's (or any other DVC specfic property) NOT the WL (which does have the WLV attached to it)- is that right??

Yes, that is correct.

Thanks for asking that question! I hadn't realized there is a 25% discount off rack rates for DVC! I looked into how much it would cost to pay cash for the Friday night of our big family trip in 2008 and ruled it out once I looked up the price on the official site. $687 for the 2 BR and $309 for each of the 3 studios! I thought I would have to borrow 2009 points for Friday night. (We don't really want to do that.) With the 25% off, I will go for the cash and save my weekend points where they can be put to better use! :)

The discount is not always available . I find it to be a 50 / 50 shot at getting it.

Do you mean a room is not always available or the discount does not always apply?

We have never not been able to get a cash room and have never even questioned whether the 25% discount would apply to an available room (it always has). Just wanting clarification.

If a regular rack rate room wasn't available through MS you can always book directly through CRO.

The discounts are not always available.

If you book through CRO, the reservation cannot be linked to your DVC points stay reservation and you will have to check out and check back in. You may have to move.

They are only supposed to make a cash room available if they do not anticipate that the room will be booked for points. That is why at BWV they don't offer cash rooms for standard or boardwalk view, those rooms are almost always booked for points.

I don't know is MS runs out of rooms to book on cash I imagine they do .

The 25% discount is not an automatic thing sometimes when a room is available its at full rate and no discounts are available. I have been able to get a discount about half the time.
