How effective are the wait lists????

We have rented points for our stay in October and my DVC member called for me yesterday to try and add one night too our stay on Wed Oct 15th at the AKL Villas and nothing was available... So they waitlisted us for that extra day!! So just from other peoples experiences how much of a chance do we have of getting that one night added???
We just want a studio for that night.


Should I go ahead and just book a value resort for the one night in case it does not come through??

I couldn't really tell you what the chances of waitlist coming through are...I've had one waitlist not come through, but another one did.

That said, I think your idea of booking a room on cash as a backup is an excellent one. That was the strategy I used on the waitlist that didn't come through, and it was a good think I did, because as it turns out, we needed the cash room.

I definitely think that booking a back-up room on cash is a great idea.

This is only our second time on a waitlist...first time came through. Too bad they can't give us a number of people on the waitlist for each date!

I would book a value resort as back-up. I personally would suggest POP Century, if available, over the All-Stars resorts.

I have to agree staying at a Value as a backup. Its only 1 night.

I second the back up plan. I am on a waitlist for December, but I have made a backup reservation at one of the mod resorts. I don't want to take the chance that I'll be left without a room if the wait list doesn't come thru.
Be sure to review the cancellation policy for the backup room. In our case it is 45 days before arrival because we have a large group; so if my waitlist doesn't come thru by day 46, I'll cancel the waitlist.

We have always done well with waitlists. I think we have waitisted a total of 5 times and they have all come through. Since you are only waiting for one night I would say your chances are pretty good, but it is always good to have a back-up plan!

I've been waitlisted since May for 2 nights during Thanksgiving week and they just came through yesterday.
