How easy to get a transfer?

I'm post happy today, sorry.
I've just been busy planning out next use year.

How easy is it to get points transferred into my account from the rent boards if I'm short points for what I have planned?

Any tips or anything I should be aware of?

Should I make sure it is done through paypal? And/or need a contract before transferring? Seems the person receiving the points are at the hands of the other member in this situation.

How long does it take and shoudl I be aware of any use year dates before going through with this transaction?

I had points transferred into my account this year. I did not have a contract but had talked with the renter and was very comfortable with the situation. I paid by credit card with paypal and we did a 3 way call with MS to complete the transfer. I was able to make reservations with the points the same day. The only issue I ran into was I had to push to have the points used as BCV points because they were transferred into my VWL contract. The renters home resort was BCV and I wanted that 11 month window for the trip. I would say trust your instincts on this. I was not comfortable with the first renter I contacted and chose not to deal with that person.

momsully, did you talk to them by phone beforehand or were you dealing only by email?
I will not use the points to get a different resort window, but only cause I'll be short a few for a GF anniversary trip hubby and I want to take.
How long did you have to wait after you paid through paypal before the trnasfer was made?
I'm assuming by using paypal you ahve soem sort of proof you paid up front.
Did you use the rent board?

I transferred a lot of points earlier this year to help someone witha family reunion.
Process
The person receiving the points rang member services and setup a three way conversation.
everything other than that was by email exchange.
Remember it is all about TRUST.
The member giving the points loses control of them as soon as they are transferred.
The points retain all of their original rights.

I used the rent board and corresponded initially by email. Once we decided to make the transfer I did talk to the renter by phone. I made the payment by paypal in the morning and we did the call about an hour later. With paypal you get an email confirming payment right away so the seller and I both new the transaction had occurred. When we called MS they asked for both member numbers and they made sure the renter understood that once the transfer occured the points could not be transferred back. I then made the reservations I needed.

Did MS call the other member for you to set up 3 way or did you have the other member on hold?
I've never used 3 way calling from my house before.

I set up the 3 way call. I called the other member first and then I called MS and conferenced us all in. I was able to bring the other member back into the call before MS even answered.

Most people require full payment up front on transfers if that matters.
