Some receptacles (outlets) are in the floor, appearing as metal circles about 6 inches in diameter. The center unscrews with the help of a coin. Somtimes the receptacle itself is recessed too far down for some "wall wart" style plugs to reach but if you bring a "3 prong to 2 prong adapter" that will act as a prong extender.
It is against code for a 120 volt receptacle to be wired up for a different voltage. But do not force the plug into a receptacle that is slightly the wrong size or shape. That can be the wrong voltage that will fry your device or equipment.
If a receptacle supplies the correct voltage but is capable of supplying more amperes (e.g. 15 amps, 20 amps, etc.) plugging into it will not fry your device or equipment which will draw only the number of amps it wants.
