If you initially buy in for the minimum 160 points but after a couple years find out you want a few more points per year so 50 - 60 how easy is it to add them to your plan?

really easy. it's called an "add-on" contract and takes almost no time at all (or you could buy a resale with the same UY month and title it the same - which takes a little longer).

My guide's number is stored in my favorites. Just call, tell them what you want, and give them your cc number for the down payment.

You can use those points to book trips almost instantly. You will however get a package via Fed Ex with all your documents. You must go though the signing ritual and return the documents via pre paid Fed Ex envelope.

As Gracey mentioned:

1) Call guide and tell him what you want. Make down payment with credit card. Points are available to be booked with in a very short amount of time (24 hours, tops).

2) Receive fedex package next day, or the day after.

3) Sign and return.

4) Enjoy!

How much do these usually go for? $12 pt? Only available at your home resort?

you can buy whatever resort they have points available for (but you only get the 11 month advantage for those points.)

you cannot buy individual points. these are add-on contracts which expire in the same year as the rest of the contracts for that home resort (i.e. if you own at SSR and add-on a 50 pt contract at BLT, that BLT contract will expire in 2060 even though your SSR master contract will expire in 2054.)

pricing is more in the $100 per point range.

It depends. But the minimum add on contract is 25 points, if you pay cash, and 50 points if you want to finance. But, you can do it in any amount you want as long as you are at least 25 (ie: 28, 43, etc.).

Right now, they are offering incentives on contracts of 50 or more points at SSR, AKV, and BLT, for those that want to add on. I just added on 50 points at BLT for $104.00 per point.

But it really depends of what Disney is offering when you call as sometimes there are incentives, and sometimes there are not.

Not so easy! Point have to be available for purchase. If not, you may need to wait several months on a DVC waiting list or, perhaps, buy aftermarket points.
