Whats up? Question for those of you that have done this. My first real trip home in april ,we start off at OKW for a week, then move over to the boardwalk for the last 4 days. What do most of you recommend and how do you get your bags moved over to the other resort. Do you recommend me going over to BWV in the am and cking in so I can get the better selection of rooms or does it not matter and I have to just wait to the afternoon ?

in the past when we've switched we've had a car

This Aug DS13 & myself are staying at 3 resorts - we'll have Disney move most or our luggage - I may carry over a bag myself & have them hold it for us - I'll make sure I have everything we need w/us to last until 4pm - the days we switch Im not planning on the parks until night

When we switch from Pop to WL Im planning on getting to WL (I figure it wont hurt to check 1st thing) before we have brkfst at Chef Mickey's then using the WL pool until we can get into the room
When we switch from WL to BCV Im planning on getting to BC before we have brkfst at Cape May then using Stormalong Bay

This is easy and fun to do - like two vacations in one!! I'd definitely have your bags moved by WDW staff - it's easy to do. Just remember you might not get your bags in your room until later in the day, so if you need anything specifically pack a separate bag and keep it with you. I would go and check in early - as many have found out, you are more likely to get your requests early in the day. You can then swim/go to a park easily, and your room should be ready when you come back.

We started switching resorts a few trips ago...

It is usually not too bad... Disney moves the majority of our luggage.. We keep a day bag with snacks and swimsuits, and make a day out of hanging out at the pool or going to DTD.

Last year we switched four times... PopC, FW, CBR, and HHI... That was a bit much.. We were in PopC for 1 night, FW for 5 nights, CBR for two nights, and HHI for 5 nights. At that point it seemed like we hit our limit...

This year, we are going to BWV for 7 nights, AKL for 1 night, and then moving to VB for 4 nights... :moped:

I LOVE switching hotels! It is very easy to do as everyone has said. I also recomend checking in early to get a better chance of getting the room location that you want and then just head to a park for the day and return around 4:00 to get settled in your new place. I am making 3 switches this time. I'm going in June/July and staying 3 nights at All Star Sports, 8 nights at BCV and the last 4 nights at AKL. I can't wait!!!!! :jumping1:

how do you get yourself there if you dont have a car, will disney transport you or do you have to figure out how to take the busses to the new hotel

Hey

Look at my signature I am one keen mover !!

last October we were at WDW for three weeks and stayed in 7 hotels !! Although now I would not stay anywhere less than 2 nights !

I did have a car that made it easier and I do pack light! I will pack even lighter in October and take advantage of the laundry facilities. There is just me and my two little boys who are very good so its easy!

I enjoy the different scenes, sights, views and facilities. When I prepare my itinerary I make the most of the area where I am when making PS reservations etc.

Now I could not imagine staying in one place for more than 5 nights !

you take Disney transportation when switching resorts if you dont have a car

when we go to WL from Pop we'll be taking bus to MK and boat to back of Lodge (different way to approach check-in)
then when we switch to BCV we'll take boat (again out the back of WL) to MK and bus to BC

you could take bus to MGM (closest park to Old Key West)
then bus to Boardwalk

cant take bus to Boardwalk from EpCot as there isnt one and you may not want to walk from front of EpCot to the back

Glad this came up, as we are booked at BWV and switching to BCV. However, now we are considering loping off our Saturday at BWV and picking up 4 days at SSR at the end. So that is 3 resorts, 2 moves. We will have our car with us, but is it easier to have Disney move everything?

Also, what is the procedure? Do we check out in the am and bring the bags down for them to move? Also, if you have food items that need to be refrigerated what do you do? We didn't know if they moved food or not, cause we can always put that in the car.

Thanks for the help! Looking forward to the trip. ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

when we switched from VWL to CB last Oct they did put our cold stuff in cold storage
they picked it up in our room and after we called from CB (they wait till someone is in the room) they brought it to us

This is good to know too. Thanks everyone who has done this before and shared it. I like the fact what some of you have said about feeling like it is two vaca in one. pirate:

We've done this before. We've had our own car and preferred to move our belongings ourselves. It was not a bother whatsoever, either. We like to check in to the resort early, take the chance that we'll get into our room before 4pm and not have to wait for our luggage to be delivered. It was actually quite nice to change location and scenery -- made it seem like two separate vacations!

The only way we'd do this again is if we were spending more than 3 or 4 nights at either location. To us, anything less than that seems like a waste of energy and time to move and resituate.

It looks like we will be there at the same time...I'm at Saratoga Springs Aug 13-19, Boardwalk Villas Aug 19-21, and Beach Club Villas Aug 21-24th!

Last year we moved from VWL to CBR. It was easy as they picked up our bags in our room before checking out of VWL and transported them to CBR during the day. We checked out @11:00 hopped on the bus to MGM and made a day out of it. When we were done @ MGM (around 9:00) we hopped the bus to CBR. When we got to CBR our bags were there, we checked in and they gave us a ride to our room in an 8 passenger van as it was pouring rain and we were already soaked. I did give them 2 days notice about our move and they seemed to appreciate this as well as a few $10 tips (money well spent). Enjoy.

Ok, I have to throw something else in to complicate the issue. We are staying 2 nights at POR, then moving to OKW for 7. On the day of the move, we have 10:45 at CRT. How should we do this?

We're going to have one 2-bedroom and one 1-bedroom at OKW, so obviously, we want them close together. I'm thinking of SIL and I going over to OKW that morning and checking us in while the other 7 of our party go into MK. And if we don't catch up with them until CRT @ 10:45, that should be OK.

Does that sound reasonable? Can anyone think of any "catches" in that plan? Besides 2 of us missing a little MK time. It will be worth it if it helps us to get close to each other for a week.
