How easy is it to "convert" to onsite?

I'm planning an early Dec trip that will be offsite and I'm trying to figure out how a split stay might affect us. I'll make my ADRs through MDE 180 days in advance. The challenge is, if a free dining offer shows up in Aug/Sept...I'll plan my first 5 or so nights in two rooms at POP or CBR, then go offsite for another 7. We would not survive a hotel with 7 kids for long...so we will have to move offsite.

Does anyone have experience moving already established ADRs to a MB?? Do you specify DDP while making ADRs? I wonder if it'd be simpler to not make ADRs until I know if I'm going to stay some onsite.

I'm thinking we will upgrade to APs while we are onsite and then be covered for the rest of our trip plus a hopeful one in 2015. I'm assuming we could continue to use the MBs after being onsite as well as plan FP+ for the offsite portion as well...right?

Thanks!

I don't think the split will affect your ADR's at all. When you get to the ADR they will just ask you if you are using the dining plan or oop. You would be able to use the DP on your onsite days. Any offsite days you will just pay OOP. I do think that your magic bands will only work during your onsite stay. As well as your FP+. You can make same day FP+ at the kiosks but cannot plan them in advance while offsite.

Thanks,
I will be making ADRs before I know for sure that I'll be staying onsite with DDP.

I'm ok not having MB and FP+ for the second half of the trip, in the past we have been able to do about everything with very few FP-...I just wanted to understand if it would make it difficult to split the stay this way.
