How early do I need to make reservations for an Oct. 2008 trip to be sure we get to stay where we want? We haven't decided yet, but we are thinking about going for one of the monorail resorts for this trip.

Once you decide where you want to stay I say book it! That way you make sure to get what you want!! Good luck! :thumbsup2

My family is going to WDW June 2008 and we booked our room at the AKL as soon as we could, which was last month.

ASAP!:) We booked our Dec. trip in May and almost have it paid for!!:yay:

I would say as quickly as possible. We called this evening because we were considering changing our March '08 POFQ to CSR and they only have a Junior Suite available at CSR...it would be $2,600 MORE than POFQ. These are both Moderate resorts, insane.
I booked our room only at POFQ in March '07 for March '08. Thank goodness! So when i called Sunday and switched it to a package i had my room guaranteed!

Book as soon as you can!
I have been trying to get a garden wing for Dec 2008 & nothing is available. Only club/suites/concierge etc.
I am hoping someone can tell me I am too early not too late.

Ditto what everyone else has said....especially if you want a MK resort.

If you have your heart set on a specific resort - especially on the monorail - book early. That way you're assured of staying where you want to stay, in the kind of room you want. :)

That said, I've been known to delay deciding where I'm going to book until I get off the plane in Orlando. I've called from the car on my way in, lol. One time I couldn't get the Beach Club - or almost anything. Had to pick between CR and WL or go to a mod.

Also, we decided about 2 weeks ago to go for 10 days and I almost lost out on getting the Poly. It wouldn't have killed me to stay elsewhere, but I was kind of bummed when Disney showed it as full. If I hadn't checked before I left, I wouldn't have been staying there.

So, if you can't decide and have to wait to book, you might get what you want and you might not. I know how it can be difficult to make up your mind and wish you luck. :)
